The Premier World League Season 2026 has reached Round 19, meaning Group B has completed another important chapter in the 62-game campaign. With 43 matches still remaining, there is plenty of time for the standings to change, but the battle for playoff and cup qualification is already becoming intense.
The playoff positions are 1st–16th, with the top four qualifying for the World Cup of Clubs. Teams finishing 17th–22nd qualify for the Friendly Cup, while 23rd–26th earn places in the King's Cup. The bottom two teams occupy the relegation spots.
Round 19 featured several impressive performances, including huge wins for the teams currently sitting at the top of Group B.
Busan Park Takes Down Olimpia
The biggest result from the top of the table came from Busan Park (1st), who defeated Olimpia (24th) 3–1.
Busan entered Round 19 in outstanding form, winning all five of their previous matches. They continued that incredible run with another victory, strengthening their position at the top of Group B.
For Olimpia, the defeat leaves them outside the playoff positions and in the King's Cup range. They will need to turn their form around quickly if they hope to climb into the top 16.
Gamba Osaka Keeps Pace at the Summit
Gamba Osaka (2nd) delivered another dominant performance, defeating Tigres (28th) 6–1.
Gamba came into the match with five straight victories and showed exactly why they are one of the leading contenders for the World Cup of Clubs. Six goals underline the attacking strength of the Japanese side.
Tigres, meanwhile, remain deep in the standings and will need a major turnaround during the remaining 43 games to escape the King's Cup positions.
Boca Juniors Rolls Past Sociedade
Third-place Boca Juniors continued its excellent campaign with a 5–1 victory over Sociedade (27th).
Boca entered the match with four consecutive wins and extended its impressive run. Sitting in 3rd place, Boca currently occupies one of the four coveted World Cup of Clubs qualification positions.
Sociedade's loss leaves the club outside the playoff zone and closer to the bottom of the table.
River Plate Wins Again
River Plate (4th) also collected three points, defeating Puebla (18th) 2–1.
River's victory is particularly important because they currently hold the final World Cup of Clubs position. The club's recent form has been outstanding, with five straight victories coming into Round 19.
Puebla remains just outside the playoff line in 18th place. The team is currently in the Friendly Cup qualification range, but a few victories could quickly push them into the top 16.
Inter Miami Defeats Atlético Nacional
One of the most significant matches inside the playoff race saw Inter Miami (5th) defeat Atlético Nacional (9th) 4–2.
Inter Miami entered Round 19 with five consecutive victories and maintained that perfect recent record. The result keeps them firmly in 5th place and within striking distance of the World Cup of Clubs positions.
Atlético Nacional remains in the playoff zone at 9th, but the defeat prevents them from making further progress toward the top four.
Flamengo and Columbus Crew Share the Points
Flamengo (11th) and Columbus Crew (12th) played to a 2–2 draw.
The result keeps both clubs inside the top 16. Neither side was able to gain ground on the teams above them, but the point is valuable in what is becoming a very competitive playoff battle.
Both teams will need consistency during the next several rounds if they want to remain in playoff territory.
New England Revolution Impresses
New England Revolution (6th) produced another strong performance, defeating Kawasaki Frontale (23rd) 5–2.
New England entered the match with five consecutive wins, and the victory keeps that remarkable run going. Sitting in 6th place, the Revolution remain one of the strongest challengers to the current top four.
Kawasaki Frontale remains in the King's Cup range at 23rd and has plenty of work to do to climb into the playoff positions.
Melgar Wins a Close Battle
Melgar (7th) defeated Unión Huaral (19th) 3–2 in a tightly contested match.
The three points keep Melgar in the upper portion of the playoff zone. The club has been inconsistent compared with some of the other leading teams, but this victory could provide momentum heading into the next round.
Unión Huaral remains in the Friendly Cup positions at 19th.
Querétaro Beats Internacional
Querétaro (10th) secured an important 4–2 victory over Internacional (17th).
Querétaro's win strengthens its position inside the playoff zone. Internacional, however, remains just one place outside the top 16.
That makes this result especially important: Querétaro collected three points while simultaneously denying a direct competitor the opportunity to move closer to the playoff line.
Emelec Wins at Home
Emelec (13th) defeated Millonarios (26th) 3–3?
The match was actually a 3–3 draw, giving both teams a point.
Emelec remains safely inside the playoff positions at 13th, while Millonarios is still in the King's Cup range. For Emelec, the draw represents a missed opportunity to strengthen its playoff position, while Millonarios can take confidence from earning a point against a top-16 opponent.
Chicago Fire and Zamalek Finish 2–2
Chicago Fire (22nd) and Zamalek (30th) also produced a high-scoring 2–2 draw.
Chicago remains in the Friendly Cup qualification range, while Zamalek continues to struggle near the bottom of the standings. With 43 games still remaining, Zamalek has enough time to recover, but results like this will be crucial if the club wants to climb away from the relegation battle.
Yokohama F. Marinos and Chivas Draw
Another match featuring teams outside the playoff positions saw Yokohama F. Marinos (29th) draw 2–2 with Chivas (31st).
Both clubs are currently near the bottom of Group B, making every point important. Chivas remains only a few positions away from the relegation places, so avoiding defeat could prove valuable later in the season.
Miami FC Defeats Santos Laguna
Miami FC (8th) defeated Santos Laguna (16th) 4–2, strengthening its playoff position.
Miami came into the game with four wins in its previous five matches and continued its excellent form. The club is now firmly established among the top eight.
Santos Laguna remains in 16th, holding the final playoff position. The margin for error is becoming smaller, however, as teams immediately below continue to chase them.
Group B World Cup of Clubs Race
After 19 rounds, the most important positions in Group B are currently occupied by:
- Busan Park – World Cup of Clubs
- Gamba Osaka – World Cup of Clubs
- Boca Juniors – World Cup of Clubs
- River Plate – World Cup of Clubs
These four clubs currently control the World Cup of Clubs qualification positions.
However, New England Revolution, Inter Miami, Gamba Osaka, Melgar, Miami FC, Atlético Nacional, Flamengo, Querétaro and the other teams inside the top 16 are all fighting to improve their playoff positions.
The biggest pressure may be on Santos Laguna in 16th, because that is currently the cutoff for playoff qualification. Just outside the playoff zone, Internacional sits 17th, followed by Puebla in 18th. Those teams are currently positioned for the Friendly Cup rather than the playoffs.
The Battle Below the Playoff Line
The teams currently sitting from 17th through 22nd are fighting for Friendly Cup qualification. These positions provide a valuable alternative for clubs that miss the playoff cutoff.
The 23rd–26th positions are currently King's Cup territory. Olimpia, Kawasaki Frontale, Millonarios and other teams in this section will be hoping to climb into the playoff or Friendly Cup positions as the season progresses.
At the bottom, the relegation battle is becoming increasingly important. Clubs near the bottom two must start collecting points before the gap becomes too large to overcome.
43 Games Remain
Round 19 is still relatively early in a 62-game season. With 43 games remaining, there is enormous opportunity for movement throughout the Group B standings.
At the top, Busan Park, Gamba Osaka, Boca Juniors and River Plate currently have the advantage in the race for the World Cup of Clubs. But the chasing pack is not far behind, and teams such as New England Revolution and Inter Miami are showing the form necessary to challenge the top four.
At the other end of the table, the Friendly Cup, King's Cup and relegation races remain wide open.
Round 19 has established the early hierarchy in Group B—but with 43 games still to play, nobody can afford to relax.
