Premier World League Season 2026 — Group D Round 26 Recap

Round 26 of Premier World League Season 2026 delivered another exciting collection of results in Group D, with dramatic draws, dominant performances and several important victories for teams fighting around the playoff line.

With 62 games in the season, 26 rounds are now complete and 36 games remain. The battles for the World Cup of Clubs, the top 16 playoff places, the Friendly Cup, King's Cup and survival are all still wide open.

Qualification picture

  • 🏆 1st–4th: World Cup of Clubs
  • 🟢 5th–16th: Playoffs
  • 🟡 17th–22nd: Friendly Cup
  • 🟠 23rd–26th: King's Cup
  • 🔴 27th–32nd: Relegation

🇬🇷 AEK Athens deliver a five-goal thriller

AEK Athens (3rd) produced one of the round's most entertaining games, defeating SC Freiburg (14th) 5–3.

The eight-goal thriller gives AEK another important three points in their pursuit of a top-four World Cup of Clubs position. Freiburg remain inside the playoff places, but their defensive struggles proved costly.

AEK's excellent recent form continues to make them one of the strongest teams in Group D.

🔴 Liverpool dominate Barcelona

Liverpool (20th) delivered one of the biggest surprises of the round, crushing Barcelona (8th) 5–1 at Anfield.

Barcelona entered the match comfortably inside the playoff positions, while Liverpool were down in the Friendly Cup zone. The result therefore has major implications at both ends of the table.

For Liverpool, this could be the kind of statement victory that launches a climb toward the top 16. Barcelona, meanwhile, will want to quickly forget one of their worst performances of the season.

🇷🇺 Lokomotiv Moscow strengthen their position

Lokomotiv Moscow (7th) defeated Alianza Atlético (25th) 3–2 in a hard-fought match.

The victory keeps Lokomotiv firmly inside the playoff positions and allows them to continue chasing the teams above them.

For Alianza Atlético, the defeat leaves them in the King's Cup area, where every point is becoming increasingly important.

🇳🇱 Groningen edge Werder Bremen

Groningen (19th) defeated Werder Bremen (21st) 1–0.

It was not the most spectacular game of the round, but the three points are extremely valuable for Groningen. They remain outside the playoff positions, but victories like this give them a chance to climb into the Friendly Cup's upper reaches and eventually challenge for the top 16.

Werder Bremen remain in the Friendly Cup zone.

🟡 Wolfsburg defeat Western City

Wolfsburg (4th) survived a close encounter with Western City Wanderers (29th), winning 3–2.

The result keeps Wolfsburg in the crucial World Cup of Clubs positions.

However, allowing the 29th-place team to score twice will give Wolfsburg some defensive concerns. Nevertheless, at this stage of the season, three points are what matter most.

🇯🇵 Sydney FC earn a valuable win

Sydney FC (2nd) defeated Kashima Antlers (13th) 2–1.

The victory is huge for Sydney's World Cup of Clubs ambitions. They remain firmly in second place and continue to put pressure on the other teams chasing the top four.

Kashima remain inside the playoff positions despite the defeat.

🤯 Real Madrid held by Binacional

Real Madrid (11th) could only manage a 2–2 draw with Binacional (28th).

This is a major missed opportunity for Real Madrid. A team inside the playoff positions should be looking to take maximum points against a side sitting near the bottom.

Binacional, however, deserve enormous credit for earning a point at the Santiago Bernabéu. It could prove to be an important result in their fight against relegation.

🇪🇸 Atlético Madrid earn a point against Real Madrid's rivals

Real Madrid's fellow Spanish giant? The screenshot shows Atlético Madrid (10th) were not involved; the match was Real Madrid vs Binacional. The Atlético Madrid match appears elsewhere in Group D through Atlético Ciclón (16th) vs Argentino Juniors (1st).

That match ended 1–1, giving both teams a point.

For Argentino Juniors, dropping points against a team sitting 16th is a missed opportunity in the World Cup of Clubs race. Atlético Ciclón, meanwhile, earn a valuable point while sitting exactly on the playoff cutoff.

🇨🇱 Colo Colo and Spartak Moscow share the points

Colo Colo (17th) drew 2–2 with Spartak Moscow (24th).

Colo Colo remain just outside the playoff positions, meaning this was a chance to move into the top 16. Spartak, meanwhile, collect a valuable point in the King's Cup zone.

The battle around 16th–24th is becoming extremely congested.

🇩🇪 Bayern Munich dominate Comunicaciones

Bayern Munich (6th) produced one of the round's most convincing results, destroying Comunicaciones (32nd) 5–1.

Bayern remain comfortably inside the playoff positions and continue to look like a serious contender for the upper reaches of the table.

For Comunicaciones, the situation is becoming desperate. They remain at the bottom and now need a major turnaround to escape the relegation places.

🇬🇧 Aston Villa defeat Estudiantes

Aston Villa (9th) defeated Estudiantes (13th) 2–1.

Villa continue to strengthen their position in the playoff zone, while Estudiantes lose valuable ground in their attempt to climb the table.

With 36 matches still remaining, however, Estudiantes remain very much alive in the playoff race.

🇦🇷 Banfield beat Deportivo Municipal

Banfield (27th) defeated Deportivo Municipal (15th) 3–2.

This was another significant upset. Deportivo Municipal were sitting safely inside the playoff positions, but Banfield produced a huge result against them.

The victory gives Banfield a much-needed boost in their fight to escape the bottom six.

🇲🇽 Cruz Azul earn a point against Pyramids

Cruz Azul (4th) and Pyramids FC (1st) played out a 2–2 draw in one of the round's biggest matches.

This was a fascinating clash between two teams at the very top of Group D.

Pyramids remain in first place and continue to lead the World Cup of Clubs race, while Cruz Azul remain in the top four. Neither team got the three points, but both remain in excellent positions.

📊 Round 26 — What it means

🏆 World Cup of Clubs race

The top four remain the most prestigious positions in Group D.

Pyramids FC (1st), Sydney FC (2nd), AEK Athens (3rd) and Wolfsburg (4th) currently occupy the four World Cup of Clubs places.

The biggest result involving the top four was the 2–2 draw between Pyramids and Cruz Azul. Cruz Azul gain a valuable point against the league leaders, while Pyramids maintain their grip on first.

AEK's 5–3 victory over Freiburg and Wolfsburg's 3–2 win over Western City also keep the top four firmly in control.

🟢 Playoff race — 1st–16th

The playoff positions remain highly competitive.

Lokomotiv Moscow, Bayern Munich, Aston Villa, Real Madrid, Atlético Ciclón and Deportivo Municipal all remain in the top 16, although several suffered or narrowly avoided damaging results.

The biggest concern is Atlético Ciclón, sitting at the playoff cutoff in 16th. The draw against first-place Argentino Juniors gives them an important point, but the teams immediately below are closing in.

🟡 Friendly Cup — 17th–22nd

The Friendly Cup battle is particularly interesting after Liverpool's 5–1 demolition of Barcelona.

Liverpool are currently in the Friendly Cup range, but a victory of that magnitude against an eighth-place team demonstrates that they may have the quality to make a serious run at the playoffs.

Groningen, Colo Colo and Werder Bremen remain involved in the Friendly Cup battle as well.

🟠 King's Cup — 23rd–26th

Spartak Moscow and Alianza Atlético remain among the teams fighting in the King's Cup positions.

Their victories—or failures to collect points—will become increasingly important as the teams in the Friendly Cup zone try to pull away.

🔴 Relegation battle

The bottom of Group D remains extremely tense.

Comunicaciones (32nd) suffered a heavy 5–1 defeat to Bayern Munich and remain in serious trouble.

Meanwhile, Binacional's 2–2 draw at Real Madrid and Banfield's 3–2 victory over Deportivo Municipal give the lower-ranked clubs reasons for optimism.

There are still 36 games to escape the bottom two, so nobody can be counted out yet.

⭐ Round 26 Winners & Losers

🟢 Biggest Winners

AEK Athens — 5–3 victory keeps them firmly in the World Cup race.
Bayern Munich — 5–1 demolition strengthens their playoff position.
Liverpool — 5–1 victory over Barcelona could ignite their climb.
Banfield — Huge 3–2 upset against a playoff team.
Binacional — Valuable point at Real Madrid.

🔴 Biggest Losers

Barcelona — A shocking 5–1 defeat is a major setback.
Real Madrid — Dropping points against 28th-place Binacional hurts their playoff ambitions.
Freiburg — Eight goals conceded against AEK.
Deportivo Municipal — Losing to 27th-place Banfield wastes a major opportunity.

🏁 Round 26 Verdict

Pyramids FC remain the team to beat, but the battle for the four World Cup of Clubs places is still extremely competitive. Sydney FC, AEK Athens and Wolfsburg are holding the other three spots, while Cruz Azul's draw with Pyramids keeps them firmly in contention.

The biggest story of the round was undoubtedly Liverpool's 5–1 demolition of Barcelona. A team sitting 20th has suddenly announced itself as a potential playoff threat.

At the other end, the relegation fight remains wide open. Banfield, Binacional and even Comunicaciones still have 36 games to change their fortunes.

With 26 of 62 games completed, Group D is nowhere near decided. The top four have a World Cup of Clubs prize to protect, teams 5–16 are fighting for playoff glory, and the bottom clubs are battling simply to survive. The next 36 rounds could completely reshape the Group D table.

Premier World League

Premier World League Season 2026 — Group C Round 26 Recap

Round 26 of the Premier World League Season 2026 produced a wild collection of results in Group C, including major upsets at the very top of the table, high-scoring thrillers, and important victories for teams fighting around the playoff line.

With 62 games in the season, clubs have completed 26 rounds and have 36 matches remaining. The qualification picture remains:

  • 🏆 1st–4th: World Cup of Clubs
  • 🟢 5th–16th: Playoffs
  • 🟡 17th–22nd: Friendly Cup
  • 🟠 23rd–26th: King's Cup
  • 🔴 27th–32nd: Relegation

🚨 Round of upsets at the top

It was a nightmare round for two of Group C's highest-ranked teams.

FC Tokyo (1st) suffered a shocking 2–1 defeat away to New York Red Bulls (31st). Tokyo entered the match as the league leader, while New York were deep in the relegation battle. The result is therefore enormous for both clubs.

For FC Tokyo, it is a painful missed opportunity in the race for the World Cup of Clubs. For New York Red Bulls, three points against the league leader could be the catalyst for a dramatic escape from the bottom two.

The second-place team also fell.

Urawa Reds (2nd) lost 3–2 to Zenit Saint Petersburg (17th). Zenit were sitting just outside the playoff positions, making this a massive result in their attempt to break into the top 16.

Urawa will be particularly disappointed because a victory could have strengthened their hold on a World Cup of Clubs place.

⚽ Newcastle United win another huge battle

Newcastle United (4th) survived a five-goal thriller against Borussia Dortmund (9th), winning 3–2.

Newcastle remain in the coveted top four and therefore currently occupy a World Cup of Clubs position. Dortmund, however, remain comfortably inside the playoff places.

This was an especially valuable three points for Newcastle because of the defeats suffered by FC Tokyo and Urawa.

🔥 Bolívar defeat LA Galaxy

Bolívar (5th) defeated LA Galaxy (14th) 3–2 in another important playoff battle.

Bolívar are sitting immediately outside the World Cup of Clubs positions, so this victory could be crucial. The gap between fourth and fifth is likely to remain one of the most closely watched battles in Group C.

LA Galaxy remain inside the playoff zone despite the defeat, but they cannot afford too many more dropped points.

🇯🇵 Cerezo Osaka edge Atlético Madrid

Cerezo Osaka (11th) picked up a valuable 3–2 victory over Atlético Madrid (10th).

This was essentially a six-point game in the playoff race. Both teams were already inside the top 16, but Cerezo's victory allows them to strengthen their position while denying Atlético an opportunity to climb higher.

With the playoff line sitting at 16th, every victory against a fellow contender matters.

🇪🇨 FC Edmonton crush Rosario

One of the biggest surprises of the round came from FC Edmonton (32nd), who demolished Rosario (27th) 4–1.

Edmonton entered the round at the very bottom of Group C, making the victory absolutely enormous in the relegation battle.

Rosario, meanwhile, remain just above the relegation positions but have missed a major opportunity to put distance between themselves and the bottom two.

🏰 Norwich finally get a win

Norwich City (30th) defeated Crystal Palace (29th) 2–1 in a crucial battle between two teams near the bottom.

The three points could prove extremely valuable later in the season. Norwich remain in the relegation zone, but they have given themselves a chance to climb.

Crystal Palace, meanwhile, will be frustrated to lose a direct battle against another struggling team.

🤝 Vegalta and The Strongest share the points

Vegalta Sendai (25th) and The Strongest (23rd) played out a 2–2 draw.

The point does little to transform either team's situation, but both clubs remain involved in the King's Cup battle.

For Vegalta, a victory would have been particularly valuable as they attempt to move away from the bottom portion of the table.

🎢 Santa Tecla and Babuna produce a thriller

Santa Tecla (28th) and Babuna (13th) played out a spectacular 3–3 draw.

For Babuna, dropping points against a team ranked 28th is a missed opportunity in the playoff race. Santa Tecla, however, can take confidence from holding a team inside the top 16 to a draw.

🤝 Hansa Rostock and Ulsan Hyundai also draw

Another six-goal affair saw Hansa Rostock (13th) draw 3–3 with Ulsan Hyundai (21st).

Rostock remain inside the playoff places, but this was a chance to strengthen their position. Ulsan, meanwhile, pick up an important point in the Friendly Cup race.

🔵 Union Española stun Manchester City

Union Española (16th) secured one of the round's most valuable victories, defeating Manchester City (15th) 2–1.

This is especially significant because both teams are positioned directly around the playoff cutoff. Union Española were sitting at 16th, the final playoff position, and the victory gives them breathing room.

Manchester City, meanwhile, now have to look over their shoulder as teams below them push toward the top 16.

🇮🇹 Juventus beat América

Juventus (26th) came away with a 3–2 victory over América (19th).

For Juventus, this is a major result in their attempt to climb out of the King's Cup area. América miss an opportunity to move closer to the playoff positions.

The 26th-place team now has a valuable three points to build on.

🇪🇸 Sevilla suffer surprise defeat

Limón F.C. (22nd) produced another important upset, defeating Sevilla (6th) 2–1.

Sevilla were firmly inside the playoff positions and chasing the teams at the top, so this is a damaging result.

For Limón, meanwhile, the victory is enormous. They are in the Friendly Cup range and now have every reason to believe they can challenge for a playoff place.

🇩🇪 Bayer Leverkusen continue their playoff push

Bayer 04 Leverkusen (7th) defeated Necaxa (12th) 2–1.

Leverkusen remain in excellent playoff territory and continue to apply pressure on the teams above them.

Necaxa remain inside the top 16 despite the defeat, but the playoff battle is becoming increasingly crowded.

🇺🇸 Austin FC defeat York United

Austin FC (24th) defeated York United (18th) 2–1.

Austin gain a crucial three points in the King's Cup battle, while York miss a chance to move toward the playoff places.

The result also shows how tightly packed the middle and lower sections of the Group C table remain.

📊 The Round 26 picture

🏆 World Cup of Clubs race

The biggest storyline is the instability at the top.

FC Tokyo (1st) and Urawa Reds (2nd) both lost, while Newcastle United (4th) took advantage by beating Dortmund.

Meanwhile, Bolívar (5th) defeated LA Galaxy and strengthened their challenge for a top-four place.

The top four race is therefore very much alive.

🟢 Playoff battle — 1st–16th

The playoff positions remain fiercely contested.

Newcastle, Bolívar, Atlético Madrid, Cerezo Osaka, Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, LA Galaxy, Necaxa, Manchester City and Union Española are among the teams fighting around the upper section.

The Union Española 2–1 victory over Manchester City is particularly important because 16th is the final playoff position.

🟡 Friendly Cup — 17th–22nd

Zenit's victory over Urawa could be the start of a major climb. They entered Round 26 in 17th and now have a huge result against one of the league's elite.

Ulsan Hyundai, América and Limón remain involved in the battle for the Friendly Cup and potentially the playoff places.

🟠 King's Cup — 23rd–26th

The King's Cup zone remains extremely competitive.

The Strongest, Austin FC, Vegalta Sendai and Juventus are among the teams fighting in this area. Juventus' victory over América could be particularly valuable as they attempt to move upward.

🔴 Relegation battle

The bottom of Group C was shaken up considerably.

FC Edmonton (32nd) finally produced a statement victory, crushing Rosario 4–1, while New York Red Bulls (31st) stunned the league leader.

Norwich (30th) also defeated Crystal Palace in a direct relegation battle.

These results mean the teams at the bottom are still very much alive with 36 games remaining.

🏁 Round 26 Verdict

Round 26 was a disaster for the top two but a dream round for their challengers.

FC Tokyo's defeat to 31st-place New York Red Bulls and Urawa Reds' loss to 17th-place Zenit have blown the World Cup of Clubs race wide open.

Newcastle United were one of the biggest winners, defeating Dortmund to reinforce their fourth-place position, while Bolívar moved closer to the top four with their victory over LA Galaxy.

At the playoff cutoff, Union Española's win over Manchester City could prove extremely important, while Cerezo Osaka's victory over Atlético Madrid strengthens their position.

And at the bottom, New York Red Bulls, FC Edmonton and Norwich all picked up huge victories that could make the relegation fight fascinating over the remaining 36 rounds.

After 26 of 62 games, Group C is wide open—from the World Cup of Clubs race all the way down to relegation.

Premier World League

Premier World League Season 2026 — Group B Round 26 Recap

Round 26 of Premier World League Season 2026 delivered goals, upsets and some crucial movement in the race for the postseason. With 62 games in the season, there are still 36 rounds remaining, meaning the table can change dramatically—but the battle for the top 16 playoff positions is already becoming intense.

The qualification picture is:

  • 🏆 1st–4th: World Cup of Clubs
  • 🟢 5th–16th: Playoffs
  • 🟡 17th–22nd: Friendly Cup
  • 🟠 23rd–26th: King's Cup
  • 🔴 27th–32nd: Relegation

🇯🇵 Gamba Osaka continue their winning ways

Gamba Osaka (1st) showed once again why they are sitting at the top of Group B, defeating Internacional (15th) 4–3 in a seven-goal thriller.

Gamba came into the match with five wins in their previous five and extended that remarkable run. Internacional fought hard, but the league leaders held on for another important three points.

For Gamba, this was another major step toward securing one of the four World Cup of Clubs places.

🌴 Miami FC maintain perfect form

Miami FC (8th) continued their spectacular form by defeating South China (17th) 3–1.

Miami entered the match with five consecutive victories, and they showed no signs of slowing down. The result strengthens their position comfortably inside the playoff places and could potentially set them up for a run at the top four.

South China, meanwhile, remain in the Friendly Cup zone.

🇦🇷 River Plate demolish Querétaro

One of the round's biggest wins came from River Plate (7th), who defeated Querétaro (9th) 5–3.

It was a huge eight-goal battle between two teams sitting inside the playoff positions. River's victory gives them valuable points against a direct competitor and strengthens their top-eight standing.

Querétaro remain in the playoff zone, but this was a missed opportunity to close the gap on the teams above them.

🟡 Boca Juniors defeat Atlético Nacional

Boca Juniors (6th) picked up an important 2–1 victory over Atlético Nacional (14th).

Boca continue to establish themselves as one of the strongest playoff teams in Group B. Atlético Nacional remain safely inside the top 16 for now, but they will need to keep collecting points to prevent the teams below them from closing in.

🇻🇪 Caroní stun Cerro Porteño

Caroní (18th) produced a major upset by defeating Cerro Porteño (19th) 3–2.

Both teams entered the match outside the playoff positions, making this a critical battle for the middle of the table. Caroní's victory could prove especially important as they attempt to climb into the Friendly Cup positions and eventually challenge for the top 16.

Cerro Porteño remain just behind them.

🔴 Flamengo continue their climb

Flamengo (11th) defeated Melgar (2nd) 2–1 in one of the biggest upsets of Round 26.

Melgar came into the match in the coveted World Cup of Clubs positions, but Flamengo took all three points. That is a massive result for Flamengo's playoff campaign and a damaging one for Melgar's top-four ambitions.

Melgar remain second, but the teams around them will certainly be watching closely.

🇺🇸 Chicago Fire crush Olimpia

Chicago Fire (16th) secured an emphatic 4–1 victory over Olimpia (16th).

The table positions shown for the two teams make this particularly notable, as Chicago are fighting directly around the playoff cutoff. The four-goal performance gives Chicago valuable momentum as they attempt to stay among the top 16.

Olimpia will need to respond quickly.

🐯 Tigres win another high-scoring battle

Tigres (32nd) defeated Emelec (12th) 3–2, producing one of the biggest surprises of the round.

Emelec were comfortably inside the playoff positions, while Tigres were sitting at the very bottom of the table. The result is therefore enormous for the relegation battle.

For Tigres, this is exactly the kind of upset they need if they are going to climb out of the bottom two.

🇺🇸 New England Revolution edge Santos Laguna

New England Revolution (4th) defeated Santos Laguna (20th) 2–1.

New England remain in the critical top-four positions, and this victory helps protect their place in the World Cup of Clubs race.

Their opponent, Santos Laguna, remain in the Friendly Cup area and will be hoping to turn their form around.

🇯🇵 Yokohama F. Marinos grab a huge win

Yokohama F. Marinos (30th) defeated Puebla (24th) 4–3 in another seven-goal thriller.

This is a massive result for Yokohama. Despite sitting deep in the standings, they showed they can compete with teams higher up the table.

Puebla miss an opportunity to strengthen their position above the relegation fight.

⚽ Sociedade defeat Chivas

Sociedade (31st) earned a valuable 2–1 victory over Chivas (27th).

Both teams are near the bottom of the table, so these three points are extremely important. Sociedade remain in a dangerous position, but the victory gives them renewed hope of climbing out of the relegation places.

Chivas, meanwhile, are now under pressure with the relegation battle tightening.

🇵🇹 Marítimo win relegation battle

Marítimo (28th) defeated Kawasaki Frontale (23rd) 2–1.

This was another important game between teams near the bottom of the standings. Marítimo desperately needed the points, while Kawasaki missed an opportunity to strengthen their position in the King's Cup zone.

🇨🇴 Millonarios beat Unión Huaral

Millonarios (26th) defeated Unión Huaral (25th) 3–2.

The result has major King's Cup implications. Both teams are sitting in the lower part of the standings, and Millonarios now have the advantage after taking all three points.

With the relegation line looming behind them, every victory is becoming increasingly valuable.

🇮🇹 Fiorentina defeat Zamalek

ACF Fiorentina (21st) defeated Zamalek (22nd) 2–1.

This was an important Friendly Cup battle. Both teams entered the match in the 17th–22nd range, and Fiorentina's victory gives them a valuable advantage over one of their direct competitors.

Zamalek remain in the Friendly Cup positions but cannot afford to fall further.

🇰🇷 Busan IPark fall to Inter Miami

Inter Miami (5th) defeated Busan IPark (3rd) 3–2 in another major top-five clash.

This is one of the round's most significant results. Busan were occupying a World Cup of Clubs position, while Inter Miami were immediately outside the top four.

The victory gives Inter Miami a huge boost in their attempt to break into the top four, while Busan lose valuable ground in the battle for the elite positions.

🇺🇸 Columbus Crew defeat Houston Dynamo

Columbus Crew (10th) finished the round with a 3–2 victory over Houston Dynamo (13th).

It was an important all-playoff battle. Both teams are currently inside the top 16, and Columbus' victory strengthens their position in the playoff race.

Houston remain in the playoff zone but will want to avoid a prolonged run of poor results.

📊 Round 26's biggest storylines

🏆 World Cup of Clubs race

Gamba Osaka, Melgar, Busan IPark and New England Revolution occupy the current top-four positions, but the race is far from settled.

The biggest movement came from Inter Miami, who defeated third-place Busan IPark and now have a major opportunity to challenge for a World Cup of Clubs place.

Meanwhile, Flamengo's 2–1 victory over Melgar gives the chasing teams another opening.

🟢 Playoff race: 1st–16th

The playoff battle remains extremely competitive.

Gamba Osaka, Melgar, Busan IPark, New England Revolution, Inter Miami, Boca Juniors, River Plate, Miami FC, Querétaro, Columbus Crew, Flamengo, Emelec, Houston Dynamo, Atlético Nacional, Internacional and Chicago Fire are all within the top 16 shown in the Round 26 results.

The most important playoff victories included River Plate over Querétaro, Boca Juniors over Atlético Nacional, Flamengo over Melgar, and Columbus Crew over Houston Dynamo.

🟡 Friendly Cup: 17th–22nd

The Friendly Cup battle is led by teams such as South China, Caroní, Cerro Porteño, Santos Laguna, Fiorentina and Zamalek.

Fiorentina's victory over Zamalek is particularly significant because it came in a direct battle between two teams in this section.

🟠 King's Cup: 23rd–26th

Puebla, Kawasaki Frontale, Unión Huaral and Millonarios are fighting in the King's Cup area.

Millonarios' victory over Huaral is especially important, while Puebla's narrow loss to Yokohama allows the teams around them to close the gap.

🔴 Relegation battle

The bottom of Group B is becoming extremely dangerous.

Tigres (32nd) picked up perhaps the most important result of the round by defeating playoff contender Emelec. Sociedade (31st) also earned three points, while Yokohama F. Marinos (30th) defeated Puebla.

Those results demonstrate that the teams at the bottom are not giving up.

🏁 Round 26 Verdict

Gamba Osaka remain the team to beat, extending their perfect run with another victory, while Miami FC and River Plate continue to look dangerous inside the playoff positions.

The biggest winner of the top-four battle may be Inter Miami, whose 3–2 victory over third-place Busan IPark puts them firmly into the conversation for a World Cup of Clubs place.

The round's biggest upset was arguably Tigres defeating Emelec, while Flamengo's win over Melgar could have major consequences at the top of the table.

And with 36 matches still remaining out of 62, there is plenty of time for the teams currently outside the top 16 to make their move. Round 26 proved once again that nobody in Group B can afford to relax.

  • 🟡 17th–22nd: Friendly Cup
  • 🟠 23rd–26th: King's Cup
  • 🔴 27th–32nd: Relegation

🔥 Bolognesi stun São Paulo

One of the biggest results of the round came at the Estádio do Morumbi, where Bolognesi (13th) defeated São Paulo (21st) 3–1.

Bolognesi came into the match in playoff position and this victory is exactly what they needed to strengthen their grip on the top 16. São Paulo, meanwhile, remain in the Friendly Cup range and will need a stronger finish to the season if they want to challenge for the playoffs.

👑 Alianza Lima keep rolling

Alianza Lima (12th) continued their excellent form with a 3–2 victory over Calvary FC (25th).

Alianza entered the match having won four of their previous five and once again delivered. The three points keep them comfortably inside the playoff places and give them momentum heading into the final 36 rounds.

Calvary remain in the King's Cup zone and need to turn their form around quickly.

💪 Cienciano make a statement

Cienciano (4th) produced another impressive result, defeating Libertad (24th) 4–0.

The victory is particularly important because Cienciano are fighting not merely for a playoff place but for one of the coveted top-four World Cup of Clubs positions.

Their form has been outstanding, with five consecutive wins shown coming into the match.

⚔️ Deportivo Cali edge Universitario

Deportivo Cali (6th) defeated Universitario (5th) 4–3 in one of the round's most entertaining games.

This was a huge six-point battle between two teams firmly entrenched in the playoff picture. Cali's victory allows them to close in on the teams above them, while Universitario lose an opportunity to strengthen their position near the top five.

Both clubs remain safely in playoff territory, but the result could become important when the final standings are decided.

🦇 Valencia suffer another setback

Real Racing (20th) pulled off a major upset, defeating Valencia (3rd) 2–1.

Valencia's position among the top four makes every defeat particularly significant. The loss could have consequences in the World Cup of Clubs race, especially with teams such as Cienciano and Deportivo Cali pushing hard.

For Real Racing, however, this is a massive three points in their attempt to climb out of the Friendly Cup positions.

🔵 Chelsea bounce back against Feyenoord

Chelsea (29th) earned an important 2–1 victory over Feyenoord (26th).

Chelsea desperately needed the win after struggling near the bottom of the table. The victory moves them away from the immediate relegation danger and gives them hope of climbing into the King's Cup places.

Feyenoord, meanwhile, miss a valuable opportunity to pull further clear of the relegation battle.

🇨🇴 Santa Fe defeat Manchester United

Another major upset came from Santa Fe (8th), who defeated Manchester United (10th) 3–2.

Santa Fe's victory strengthens their position in the playoff race, while United suffer another damaging result against a direct playoff contender.

With both teams inside the top 16, this was a particularly valuable result for Santa Fe.

🌟 Sporting Cristal keep pace

Sporting Cristal (2nd) defeated Deportivo Pasto (4th) 4–1.

This was a statement performance from one of the league's leading teams. Cristal continue to occupy a World Cup of Clubs position and showed their strength by beating another high-ranked opponent convincingly.

For Pasto, the defeat could be costly as the battle for the top four becomes increasingly intense.

🚨 Atlético Grau crush Montreal

Atlético Grau (11th) had no trouble against Montreal Impact (28th), winning 3–0.

Grau continue to hold a strong playoff position, while Montreal remain deep in the relegation fight.

With 36 matches still to play, Montreal have time to recover, but results like this make their climb toward safety increasingly urgent.

😱 U de Chile shock Aucas

One of the biggest surprises of Round 26 came from U de Chile (30th).

They defeated Aucas (7th) 2–1, taking three precious points from a team comfortably inside the playoff positions.

Aucas missed a chance to strengthen their position near the top six, while U de Chile have given themselves another reason to believe they can escape the bottom two.

🟢 Cesar Vallejo continue their charge

Cesar Vallejo (22nd) defeated Danubio (27th) 4–2.

Vallejo are currently in the Friendly Cup zone, and this result gives them a chance to start looking upward rather than downward. The gap between the Friendly Cup and playoff positions remains something they can attack during the remaining 36 rounds.

Danubio, meanwhile, remain in a dangerous position just outside the King's Cup places.

💥 Hong Kong FC demolish Southam

Hong Kong FC (10th) produced one of the most impressive attacking performances of the round, defeating Southam (32nd) 6–1.

Hong Kong FC's victory strengthens their playoff position, while Southam continue to struggle at the bottom of the table.

For Hong Kong, this is exactly the kind of result that can build momentum for a push toward the upper playoff positions.

👑 Sport Boys maintain their dominance

Sport Boys (1st) continued their remarkable season with a 5–0 victory over Pegasus (31st).

The league leaders remain firmly in control of first place and continue to look like one of the strongest teams in Group A.

Pegasus, meanwhile, remain in the relegation fight and desperately need points from the remaining matches.

🌊 Vancouver keep their playoff hopes alive

Vancouver Whitecaps (17th) defeated Pegasus? No—the Round 26 matchup shown is Vancouver Whitecaps (17th) 3–1 Pegasus (31st).

The result is especially important because Vancouver sit just outside the top 16. A victory at this stage could be the beginning of a climb into the playoff places.

They are now one of the teams most closely watching the teams ranked 15th and 16th.

⚔️ Chankas and Arsenal play out a 1–1 draw

Chankas CYC (9th) and Arsenal (19th) shared the points in a 1–1 draw.

For Chankas, it is a missed opportunity to strengthen their top-10 position. Arsenal, however, will probably be happier with the point as they continue their battle in the Friendly Cup zone.

🔵 Cruz Azul win the San Jose battle

Cruz Azul (14th) defeated San Jose (13th) 2–3 in another important game involving playoff teams.

Cruz Azul's victory gives them three crucial points in the middle of the playoff race. San Jose, meanwhile, remain inside the top 16 but now have less room for error.

📊 Round 26's biggest storylines

🏆 World Cup of Clubs race

The top four are under increasing pressure. Sport Boys, Sporting Cristal, Cienciano and Valencia occupy the prized World Cup positions, but the teams immediately behind them are close enough to make the race interesting.

🟢 The playoff race

The top 16 remains the major target for most of the middle of the table. Deportivo Cali, Universitario, Santa Fe, Hong Kong FC, Chankas CYC, Atlético Grau, Cruz Azul and Bolognesi all strengthened or protected their playoff positions in different ways.

🟡 Friendly Cup battle

The 17th–22nd positions are becoming increasingly competitive. Teams such as Vancouver Whitecaps, Real Racing, Arsenal, São Paulo and Cesar Vallejo are all within striking distance of the playoffs.

🟠 King's Cup fight

The 23rd–26th positions remain the danger zone just above relegation. Calvary FC, Libertad and other clubs in this section cannot afford to lose too many more games.

🔴 Relegation battle

The bottom two are the major concern. Southam and Pegasus remain at the bottom of the table, while teams such as U de Chile, Montreal Impact and Chelsea are fighting desperately to avoid being dragged into the relegation spots.

🏁 Round 26 Verdict

Round 26 belonged to the top teams and the relegation fighters alike.

Sport Boys and Sporting Cristal continued to show why they are among the league's elite, while Cienciano's 4–0 win further underlined their excellent form.

The biggest shocks came from Real Racing beating Valencia and U de Chile defeating Aucas. Those results demonstrate just how unpredictable Group A remains.

Meanwhile, Bolognesi, Alianza Lima, Santa Fe, Hong Kong FC and Cruz Azul all picked up valuable points in the playoff race.

With 36 games remaining out of 62, there is still plenty of time for the table to change dramatically. But as Round 26 showed, the battle for the top 16 playoff places—and especially the top four World Cup of Clubs spots—is beginning to heat up.

League III Season 2026 Group D Round 12 Recap

🏆 League III — Group D, Round 12 Recap

Round 12 produced another high-scoring and highly competitive set of fixtures in Group D. The big headline is clear: Blooming, the Round 11 leader, lost again, while Metropolitanos kept winning and several playoff contenders strengthened their positions.

With 12 of 50 rounds completed, 38 rounds remain, so the promotion race is still very much open.

🔥 Match of the Round: Metropolitanos win again

Puntarenas F.C. 2–3 Metropolitanos F.C.

21st vs 2nd

This could be one of the most important results of the round.

2nd-ranked Metropolitanos went to 21st-ranked Puntarenas and came away with a 3–2 victory.

After beating Independiente del Valle in Round 11, Metropolitanos have now won again.

That is exactly the kind of form needed when chasing 1st place and automatic promotion to League II.

More importantly, their victory came on the same day that the leaders dropped points.

🚨 Blooming held by Lempira

Lempira F.C. 2–2 Blooming

19th vs 1st

For the second consecutive round, Blooming dropped points.

After losing 1–2 to C.D. Dandy in Round 11, the league leaders could only draw 2–2 with 19th-ranked Lempira.

That's five points dropped in two rounds for the team occupying the automatic-promotion position.

The result is especially significant because Metropolitanos won again.

The gap at the top is therefore coming under serious pressure.

💥 Bentín Tacna demolish AIK

Bentín Tacna Heroica 5–1 AIK Fotboll

10th vs 22nd

The biggest winning margin of Round 12.

Bentín absolutely destroyed AIK, scoring five goals in a dominant home performance.

Bentín began the round in 10th, the Friendly Cup position, so this is exactly the kind of result that could help them establish themselves in the top half.

AIK, meanwhile, suffered one of the heaviest defeats of the round.

🟢 Talleres continue their playoff push

Talleres de Córdoba 3–2 Aledals IK

3rd vs 18th

Talleres picked up another important three points.

The 3–2 victory keeps 3rd-ranked Talleres firmly in the playoff places and, more importantly, within striking distance of the automatic-promotion position.

After their excellent 4–1 win over AIK in Round 11, Talleres have now followed it with another victory.

Two wins in two rounds is exactly what they needed.

🇸🇪 Arameisk-Syrianska beat San Lorenzo

San Lorenzo de Almagro 2–3 Arameisk-Syrianska IF

11th vs 14th

Arameisk-Syrianska took a valuable 3–2 away victory.

San Lorenzo entered the round in 11th, just outside the Friendly Cup position, so this is a particularly costly defeat for them.

Arameisk, meanwhile, get three points that can help them move toward the cup qualification positions.

⚔️ Mushuc Runa lose again

Defensa y Justicia 2–1 Mushuc Runa

12th vs 4th

A major setback for 4th-ranked Mushuc Runa.

After losing to Talleres? More precisely, Mushuc Runa had lost to Defensa? In Round 11 they lost 2–3 to 7th-ranked Mushuc Runa? Actually Round 11's Mushuc Runa defeated Deportivo Táchira 3–2; now 4th-ranked Mushuc Runa lose 1–2 to 12th-ranked Defensa.

This is an important three points for Defensa and a missed opportunity for Mushuc Runa to strengthen their position near the top.

🤝 Táchira and LDU Quito share the points

Deportivo Táchira 2–2 L.D.U. Quito

7th vs 5th

A fascinating playoff battle ended level.

Both teams entered the match inside the top nine, so neither side wanted to lose.

The 2–2 draw means both collect a point, but it also gives the teams around them an opportunity to gain ground.

For Táchira, it's another match without a win after their Round 11 defeat to Mushuc Runa.

🇻🇪 Zamora defeat Independiente del Valle

Zamora F.C. 2–1 Independiente del Valle

26th vs 20th

Zamora claimed three points in a match between two lower-ranked teams.

The victory is especially useful for Zamora as they attempt to climb away from the bottom of the table.

With no relegation in League III, the emphasis for these teams is on climbing toward the cup positions rather than survival.

⚡ Metropolitanos keep their perfect momentum

Puntarenas 2–3 Metropolitanos

As noted above, this is arguably the most important result from the promotion perspective.

Metropolitanos were 2nd and defeated a lower-ranked side while Blooming drew.

That means the challengers continue to put pressure on the leader.

🇨🇷 Pérez Zeledón defeat Plaza Colonia

Municipal Pérez Zeledón 2–1 Club Plaza Colonia

15th vs 23rd

Pérez Zeledón secured a useful home victory.

Neither side entered the match in the main qualification zones, but the three points give Pérez Zeledón an opportunity to move toward the middle of the standings.

🤝 San Carlos and Fénix draw

A.D. San Carlos 1–1 Centro Atlético Fénix

8th vs 13th

Another important result around the playoff boundary.

San Carlos entered 8th, comfortably inside the playoff positions, but could only draw at home with 13th-ranked Fénix.

For San Carlos, it's two points dropped.

For Fénix, taking a point away against a top-nine team is a strong result.

😮 Blooming drop more points

Lempira 2–2 Blooming

The league leaders simply could not find the winning goal.

After losing in Round 11, Blooming needed a victory to stop their slide.

Instead, they drew 2–2.

That's now two straight rounds without a win for the team at the top.

⚔️ Dandy and Bucha cancel each other out

C.D. Dandy 1–1 Bucha

9th vs 17th

Dandy, who had produced the huge Round 11 upset against Blooming, could only draw against Bucha.

It's a disappointing follow-up after their excellent victory over the leaders.

Still, Dandy remain inside the top-nine playoff zone.

🇧🇪 Anderlecht win at Choloma

CD Choloma 2–3 R.S.C. Anderlecht

16th vs 24th

Anderlecht collected three important away points.

The victory gives the Belgian side a chance to climb from the lower portion of the standings.

🔥 Genk hammer Canon Yaoundé

K.R.C. Genk 1–4 Canon Yaoundé

6th vs 25th

This was another major shock.

6th-ranked Genk suffered a heavy 4–1 home defeat against 25th-ranked Canon Yaoundé.

After beating 8th-ranked Anderlecht in Round 11, Genk have gone from an excellent playoff result to a damaging home defeat.

That's exactly the kind of inconsistency that can make the playoff race unpredictable.

Once again, Group D produced a goal feast, with 57 goals in 13 games.

🏆 Promotion Race

🥇 1st — Automatic Promotion

Blooming

This is where the pressure is mounting.

Blooming were 1st coming into the round, but have now:

  • Lost 1–2 to Dandy in Round 11
  • Drawn 2–2 with Lempira in Round 12

That's five points dropped in two rounds.

With 1st place earning direct promotion to League II, Blooming need to rediscover their winning form quickly.

🥈 2nd — Metropolitanos

The biggest winner of Round 12

Metropolitanos have now won consecutive games:

Round 11: 3–2 vs Independiente del Valle
Round 12: 3–2 vs Puntarenas

They are doing exactly what a promotion challenger needs to do.

If Blooming continue dropping points, Metropolitanos are perfectly positioned to take advantage.

🥉–9️⃣ Playoff Race

The top-nine battle is incredibly competitive.

Among the leading teams:

  • Talleres (3rd) — WON
  • Mushuc Runa (4th) — LOST
  • LDU Quito (5th) — DREW
  • Genk (6th) — LOST
  • Táchira (7th) — DREW
  • San Carlos (8th) — DREW
  • Dandy (9th) — DREW

So Talleres are the major winner among the established playoff contenders, while Mushuc Runa and Genk suffered damaging defeats.

🎟️ Cup Qualification

🟢 10th — Friendly Cup

Bentín Tacna entered the round in 10th and absolutely exploded with a 5–1 victory.

That's a fantastic result for their Friendly Cup ambitions and could potentially propel them into the playoff conversation.

👑 11th–12th — King's Cup

San Lorenzo entered 11th but lost to Arameisk-Syrianska, while other teams around them are gaining ground.

The battle for 10th–12th is therefore becoming just as interesting as the promotion race for some clubs.

⭐ Round 12 Awards

🏆 Team of the Round: Metropolitanos — another away victory while Blooming dropped points.

💣 Biggest upset: Canon Yaoundé 4–1 Genk.

🔥 Best attacking performance: Bentín Tacna — five goals in a 5–1 demolition.

📈 Biggest promotion boost: Talleres — another win keeps them firmly among the leading contenders.

😬 Biggest disappointment: Genk — a 4–1 home defeat after beating Anderlecht in Round 11.

🚨 Biggest concern: Blooming — five points dropped across the last two rounds.

⚔️ Best playoff battle: Táchira 2–2 LDU Quito.

🔮 Round 12 Verdict

The Group D title race has suddenly become very interesting.

Blooming's second consecutive failure to win has opened the door for Metropolitanos, who are quietly putting together an excellent run.

Behind them, Talleres are also building momentum, while Mushuc Runa, Genk, Táchira, San Carlos and Dandy all dropped points.

At the same time, Bentín Tacna's 5–1 victory makes the Friendly Cup race more interesting, while Canon Yaoundé's 4–1 destruction of Genk proves once again that even teams near the bottom can dramatically affect the promotion race.

With 38 rounds still to play, nothing is settled—but after Round 12, Blooming's lead suddenly looks a lot less comfortable.

The big question heading into Round 13: can Blooming stop the slide, or will Metropolitanos turn their two-game winning streak into a genuine challenge for automatic promotion?
