Round 4 of League III Season 2026 — Group D delivered another dramatic set of results, including a major defeat for defending leaders Deportivo Táchira and important victories for several teams battling near the top of the table.
With the league consisting of 50 rounds, there are still 46 rounds remaining, so nothing is settled. However, the promotion race is already becoming increasingly competitive.
LDU Quito Take Advantage
L.D.U. Quito defeated AIK Fotboll 2–1 in an important result near the top half of the table.
LDU entered the match in 8th place, meaning they were already inside the promotion playoff positions. The victory strengthens their position in the battle for one of the eight playoff spots.
AIK, who entered the match in 26th, remain at the bottom end of the standings. With no relegation from League III, their focus will be on climbing the table and getting into the cup qualification picture.
Mushuc Runa Continue Their Rise
Mushuc Runa S.C. produced another strong performance, defeating Aldeals IK 3–2.
Mushuc entered the match in 7th, firmly inside the playoff zone. The three points are especially valuable because Aldeals were sitting in 6th, making this a direct clash between teams near the top of Group D.
Aldeals will be disappointed to lose a match against a direct promotion rival.
Arameiska-Syrianska Earn a Valuable Win
Arameiska-Syrianska IF defeated Puntarenas F.C. 1–0.
Arameiska entered the round in 11th, meaning they were just outside the playoff positions and occupying one of the King's Cup spots. The victory gives them an opportunity to push higher up the standings.
Puntarenas, meanwhile, entered the match in 19th and remain outside the qualification picture.
Municipal Pérez Zeledón Held by Independiente
Municipal Pérez Zeledón and Independiente del Valle played out a 2–2 draw.
Municipal entered the match in 16th, while Independiente were 21st. The point does little to dramatically change either team's position, but both remain within reach of the teams ahead of them.
Metropolitanos Beat San Carlos
Metropolitanos F.C. earned a 3–1 victory over A.D. San Carlos.
Metropolitanos entered the match in 10th, the important Friendly Cup qualification position. The victory gives them a chance to consolidate that spot and potentially move into the playoff places.
San Carlos entered the match in 14th and now need a run of positive results to get closer to the top nine.
Lempira Shock Zamora
Lempira F.C. recorded one of the round's more surprising victories, defeating Zamora F.C. 2–1.
Lempira entered the match in 20th, while Zamora were 25th. The three points are extremely valuable for Lempira as they attempt to escape the lower portion of the table.
With no relegation, both teams can concentrate on climbing toward the qualification positions.
Dandy Defeat the League Leaders
The biggest result of Round 4 came in Honduras, where C.D. Dandy defeated Deportivo Táchira 2–1.
Táchira entered the match as the league leaders, sitting in 1st place, while Dandy were 3rd. This was therefore a huge promotion battle between two of Group D's leading teams.
Dandy's victory could have major consequences for the automatic promotion race. Táchira's defeat means their perfect early momentum has been interrupted, while Dandy have announced themselves as a serious contender for the top spot.
Defensa y Justicia Beat Olimpia
Defensa y Justicia defeated Olimpia 2–2? — the match finished 2–2, giving both teams a point.
Defensa entered the match in 18th, while Olimpia were 15th. Neither team was able to make a major move toward the qualification places, but the point keeps both clubs within reach of the middle of the table.
Genk Defeat San Lorenzo
Another major result came as K.R.C. Genk defeated San Lorenzo de Almagro 2–1.
San Lorenzo entered the round in 2nd place, meaning they were one of the strongest teams in the promotion race. Genk entered in 12th.
The result is a significant boost for Genk's hopes of climbing into the playoff positions, while San Lorenzo suffer a potentially costly setback in their pursuit of automatic promotion.
Talleres Defeat Canon Yaoundé
Talleres de Córdoba defeated Canon Yaoundé 2–1.
Talleres entered the match in 17th, while Canon were 17th? The displayed rankings show Canon at 17th and Talleres at 2nd? Actually, the match listing places Canon Yaoundé (17) against Talleres de Córdoba (4).

Other Round 4 Results

- Blooming defeated Centro Atlético Fénix 2–1. Blooming entered in 6th, while Fénix were 13th. This was another important result involving a playoff contender.
Group D Qualification Picture

- 🏆 2nd–9th: Promotion playoffs for the second promotion spot
- 🤝 10th: Friendly Cup
- 👑 11th–12th: King's Cup
- 🚫 13th–26th: Currently outside qualification

Táchira's Lead Is Suddenly Under Pressure
The major story of Round 4 is undoubtedly Deportivo Táchira's 2–1 defeat to C.D. Dandy. Táchira entered the round as the league leader, but Dandy's victory shows that the automatic promotion race is far from a one-team affair.
San Lorenzo also suffered a damaging defeat to Genk, while Talleres, Mushuc Runa, LDU Quito and Blooming all collected valuable points in the upper half of the table.
Meanwhile, Metropolitanos continue to occupy the crucial Friendly Cup territory, while Arameiska-Syrianska are fighting to remain in the King's Cup positions.
With 46 rounds still to play, Group D is already showing signs of a fierce battle for promotion. Táchira may still be the team everyone is chasing, but Round 4 proved that their grip on first place is anything but secure.
