Premier World League Season 2026 Group B Round 22 Recap

Round 22 of the Premier World League 2026 season delivered another action-packed set of results in Group B. With 22 of the 62 games now completed, there are still 40 matches remaining, but the battle for playoff and international qualification positions is becoming increasingly important.

The top 16 positions are playoff places, while teams finishing 1st–4th earn qualification for the World Cup of Clubs. Positions 17–22 go to the Friendly Cup, positions 23–26 qualify for the King's Cup, and the bottom two places remain the relegation spots.

🔥 Big Wins and Major Upsets

One of the biggest surprises came from Caroni, who defeated high-flying Gamba Osaka 1–0. Caroni entered the match down in 24th place, making this an important result for a team currently fighting to escape the King's Cup zone.

River Plate continued their excellent campaign with a 3–2 victory over Olimpia. River, sitting 4th, showed why they remain one of the leading contenders for a World Cup of Clubs place.

Boca Juniors, ranked 2nd, also strengthened their position near the top with a 3–2 victory over Tigres. Tigres remain deep in the relegation battle in 31st.

Melgar produced another strong result by defeating Puebla 3–1. Sitting 5th, Melgar remain firmly inside the World Cup of Clubs qualification picture.

⚔️ Playoff Battle

The results involving teams near the top 16 were particularly significant.

Miami FC, ranked 8th, defeated Flamengo 2–1, giving Miami another valuable three points in the playoff race while dealing Flamengo's hopes a setback.

Cerro Porteño defeated Santos Laguna 3–2 in another important result. Santos Laguna are currently in the Friendly Cup zone around 18th, while Cerro Porteño's victory keeps their own campaign competitive.

New England Revolution, sitting 7th, continued their strong form with a 2–2? Wait — the Round 22 result shown is New England Revolution 2–2 Union Huaral?

The Round 22 score shown in the image is actually Union Huaral 1–2 New England Revolution, giving New England another crucial victory and keeping them firmly among the playoff contenders.

Inter Miami also had an excellent round, defeating Internacional 5–1. With Miami sitting 6th, the emphatic victory strengthens their position among the leading teams.

🏆 World Cup of Clubs Race

The top four places are the most valuable positions in Group B because they qualify directly for the World Cup of Clubs.

Boca Juniors and River Plate both picked up wins in Round 22, making this a particularly successful round for the teams occupying the upper reaches of the standings.

Melgar also remained in the hunt with their 3–1 victory, while Busan I'Park, ranked 3rd, drew 1–1 with Atlético Nacional. Busan will probably view the draw as two points dropped given their position near the summit.

The leading group is beginning to separate itself, but with 40 games still remaining, there is plenty of time for the playoff picture to change.

🚨 King's Cup and Relegation Battle

The bottom half of the table had plenty of drama as well.

Maritimo, ranked 32nd, pulled off one of the round's biggest results by defeating Emelec 2–1. It is a crucial victory for Maritimo, who are currently occupying one of the relegation positions.

Tigres, meanwhile, suffered a 3–2 defeat against Boca Juniors and remain 31st. With the bottom two positions facing relegation, Tigres and Maritimo desperately need to start collecting points.

Zamalek, ranked 28th, earned a 2–2 draw against Yokohama F. Marinos, while Millonarios defeated Chivas 2–1 in another important result for the lower-table battle.

Fiorentina, sitting 23rd, moved closer to escaping the King's Cup zone with a 3–2 victory over Kawasaki Frontale, currently 19th.

At the other end, Tigres and Maritimo occupy the danger zone, making every upcoming match increasingly important.

With 40 rounds still to play, nothing is settled. The playoff line, World Cup of Clubs positions, Friendly Cup places and relegation battle can all change dramatically before the 62-game season reaches its conclusion.
