Round 6 of League III Season 2026 delivered another exciting day of football in Group B, with 13 matches producing 35 goals. There were five home victories, four away wins, and four draws, as the promotion and playoff races continued to take shape.
With 50 rounds in the season, there is still a long way to go, but every point is already becoming valuable.
Super Nova Shock Celta Vigo
The biggest result of the round came in Latvia, where SK Super Nova defeated RC Celta de Vigo 3–2.
Celta entered the match ranked second, while Super Nova were fifth, making this a huge opportunity for the Latvian side. They took full advantage of home-field advantage and secured all three points in a five-goal thriller.
For Celta, it was a costly defeat in the battle near the top of the table. Super Nova, meanwhile, continue to look like a serious contender for the playoff positions.
Benfica Win Another Thriller
Africa Sports FC 2–3 S.L. Benfica was another five-goal contest.
Benfica entered the match ranked 16th, but produced an impressive performance on the road against Africa Sports. The Portuguese side showed plenty of attacking quality to come away with three points.
For Africa Sports, who were ranked 17th, it was another frustrating result in a tight section of the standings.
Villarreal Edge Daugavpils
BFC Daugavpils 2–3 Villarreal CF saw the Spanish side claim an important away victory.
Daugavpils fought hard at home, but Villarreal managed to score three times and leave Latvia with the points. Villarreal's victory keeps them firmly involved in the fight for the upper positions.
Gent Defeat Antwerp
There was a Belgian battle between KAA Gent and Royal Antwerp F.C., with Gent coming out on top 2–1.
Gent, ranked 21st, produced an important victory against Antwerp, who entered the match ranked 19th. It was exactly the kind of result Gent needed to begin climbing away from the lower part of the standings.
Deportes Concepción Dominate Gent
In another match involving Gent, Deportes Concepción defeated KAA Gent 3–1.
The Chilean side, ranked 23rd, produced an impressive attacking display. Gent were unable to build on their other result and surrendered another opportunity to collect valuable points.
Hvidovre Pull Off an Important Away Win
Cúcuta Deportivo 1–2 Hvidovre IF was one of the round's most valuable away victories.
Cúcuta entered the match ranked fourth and therefore occupied a prime position in the promotion playoff race. Hvidovre, ranked 14th, upset the higher-ranked Colombian side and took three points on the road.
For Cúcuta, the defeat represents a missed opportunity to strengthen their position among the top nine.
Once Caldas Held by Dinamo
Once Caldas 2–2 FC Dinamo București ended all square.
Once Caldas entered the match ranked first, making this one of the most important fixtures of the round. Dinamo, ranked sixth, managed to take a point away from the league leaders.
For Once Caldas, it means two points were dropped in the automatic-promotion race. However, remaining at or near the top after six rounds keeps them in an excellent position.
Violette Continue to Impress
Violette Athletic Club 3–2 FC Gloria Buzău produced another entertaining five-goal game.
Violette entered the fixture ranked 25th, but managed to defeat Gloria Buzău despite their position near the bottom of the table. The victory could provide a much-needed confidence boost as Violette attempt to climb the standings.
Charleroi and Águilas Share the Points
Águilas Doradas 2–2 Royal Charleroi S.C. was a hard-fought draw.
Águilas, ranked 13th, and Charleroi, ranked 20th, traded goals throughout the match but neither could find the decisive winner.
For both teams, the single point provides something to build on, although Charleroi would have been hoping to take advantage of their opportunities against a higher-ranked opponent.
Bogotá and Helsingør Play Out a Draw
Internacional de Bogotá 2–2 FC Helsingør was another four-goal affair.
Bogotá entered the match ranked seventh and Helsingør 22nd, so this was a valuable point for the Danish side. Bogotá, meanwhile, missed an opportunity to strengthen its position inside the playoff places.
With positions 2–9 qualifying for the promotion playoffs, these dropped points could become increasingly important later in the campaign.
Medellín and Horsens Unable to Separate
Independiente Medellín 1–1 AC Horsens ended in a stalemate.
Medellín entered the match 19th and Horsens 18th, making this a particularly even matchup on paper. Neither side was able to claim all three points, leaving both with one point from the contest.
Rezeknes and Rayo Draw
Rézeknes FA/BJSS 2–2 Rayo Vallecano produced another entertaining draw.
Rayo entered the fixture ranked 12th, while Rezeknes were 15th. The two sides exchanged goals, with neither able to find a winner.
For Rayo, the point keeps them within touching distance of the playoff picture, while Rezeknes will be encouraged by taking a point from a higher-ranked opponent.
Canadian Defeat Unirea
The final match saw Canadian (URU) defeat AFC Unirea Slobozia 2–1.
Canadian entered the match ranked 21st and managed to secure a valuable home victory over Unirea, who were ranked 24th. The three points could prove important as Canadian attempt to move up the table.
The Promotion Race
After six rounds, the Group B standings are beginning to develop some clear storylines, but there is still plenty of time for the picture to change.
The competition structure makes every position important:
- 🥇 1st place: Automatic promotion to League II
- 🏆 2nd–9th: Promotion playoffs for the second League II promotion spot
- 🟢 10th: Friendly Cup qualification
- 👑 11th–12th: King's Cup qualification
- 🔓 13th–26th: No relegation
The most important battle remains at the top. Once Caldas' 2–2 draw with Dinamo and Celta Vigo's 3–2 defeat to Super Nova have opened the door for the chasing pack.
Meanwhile, teams such as Hvidovre and Benfica picked up valuable wins that could help them climb toward the playoff places.
With 44 rounds still remaining, Group B is far from settled. Round 6 once again showed that even teams outside the current playoff picture can cause major problems for the clubs chasing promotion.
