Premier World League Season 2026 – Group A Round 25 Recap

Round 25 of the Premier World League Season 2026 delivered some spectacular results in Group A, including several blowouts, major upsets, and a huge shock at the top of the table. With 25 of 62 games completed, there are still 37 rounds remaining, but the playoff and World Cup of Clubs races are beginning to take shape.

🔥 Alianza Lima Suffers a Huge Shock

The biggest story of the round was undoubtedly Alianza Lima's 5–3 home defeat to Libertad. Alianza entered Round 25 in 1st place, making this an enormous opportunity for the teams chasing the league leaders.

Libertad, meanwhile, entered the match down in 22nd, right on the Friendly Cup/King's Cup border. An eight-goal thriller like this could prove to be a massive boost for Libertad's hopes of climbing out of the lower portion of the table.

💥 Cienciano Destroys Deportivo Cali

Another massive result came from Cienciano, who absolutely demolished Deportivo Cali 6–0.

Cienciano entered the round in 12th, comfortably inside the playoff zone, while Cali were sitting 5th and fighting for one of the four coveted World Cup of Clubs places. A six-goal defeat is a major setback for Cali and could have serious consequences in the race for the top four.

For Cienciano, meanwhile, this was exactly the type of statement victory needed to strengthen their playoff position.

🏆 Valencia Beats Feyenoord

Valencia continued their excellent campaign with a 2–1 victory over Feyenoord.

Valencia entered the match in 3rd place, meaning the victory keeps them firmly involved in the World Cup of Clubs race. With only the top four qualifying, every victory against another high-level opponent is extremely valuable.

Feyenoord will be disappointed to leave with nothing, particularly after their strong position coming into the round.

⚔️ Universitario and Real Racing Share the Points

Universitario and Real Racing played to a 2–2 draw.

Universitario entered the round in 4th, meaning they were occupying the final World Cup of Clubs position. Real Racing, meanwhile, came into the match outside the playoff zone in 19th.

The draw gives Racing a valuable point in their attempt to climb toward the 1–16 playoff places, while Universitario missed an opportunity to strengthen their grip on the top four.

🇬🇧 Manchester United Rolls Past Deportivo Pereira

Manchester United put together one of the more convincing victories of the round, defeating Deportivo Pereira 4–1.

United entered the match in 15th place, meaning this victory is particularly important in the playoff race. They are currently inside the 1–16 postseason positions, but teams below them are still within striking distance.

🌎 Santa Fe Gets a Big Win at Chelsea

Santa Fe defeated Chelsea 3–2 in another entertaining match.

Chelsea entered the round all the way down in 29th, making them one of the teams currently sitting in the relegation zone. Santa Fe's victory adds another difficult result to Chelsea's campaign and gives Santa Fe an important three points.

⚡ Other Round 25 Results

There were plenty of goals elsewhere around Group A:

  • Bolognesi 4–2 Calvary FC
  • Sporting Cristal 2–1 Atlético Grau
  • Aucas 3–2 Montreal Impact
  • Universidad de Chile 4–2 Danubio
  • César Vallejo 3–3 Southampton
  • Hong Kong FC 2–1 Deportivo Saprissa
  • Sport Boys 8–0 Pegasus — the most dominant victory of the round!
  • São Paulo 4–2 Chankas
  • Arsenal 3–2 San Jose
  • Cruz Azul 3–2 Vancouver Whitecaps

🏟️ Playoff Race

The battle for the top 16 remains extremely competitive. These are the playoff positions, and teams currently inside that group will be looking to build enough of a cushion to avoid being dragged into the middle of the table.

The most important results for the playoff race included:

Cienciano's 6–0 victory, which strengthens their position inside the top 16, and Manchester United's 4–1 win, which gives the 15th-place side valuable breathing room.

Meanwhile, clubs such as Real Racing and Libertad are trying to climb from outside the playoff positions.

🌎 World Cup of Clubs Race

The top four qualify for the World Cup of Clubs, making the results involving the leading teams especially important.

Coming into Round 25, Alianza Lima, Valencia, Universitario and Deportivo Cali occupied the top-four positions. But three of those teams suffered setbacks:

  • Alianza Lima lost 5–3
  • Deportivo Cali lost 6–0
  • Universitario drew 2–2
  • Valencia won 2–1

Valencia therefore enjoyed the best round among the four leading teams. The race for those four prestigious spots could become extremely tight over the next several rounds.

🎟️ Friendly Cup Race

Teams finishing 17th through 22nd qualify for the Friendly Cup.

That makes the middle of the table particularly important. Clubs currently sitting around this range cannot afford to settle for their position because they have both the playoff places above them and the King's Cup positions below them to worry about.

Libertad's victory over the league leaders is particularly interesting because they entered the round in 22nd, right on the Friendly Cup cutoff.

👑 King's Cup Battle

Positions 23rd through 26th qualify for the King's Cup.

Teams currently in this area are still within reach of the Friendly Cup and, with 37 games left, potentially even the playoffs. The lower-middle portion of the standings could change dramatically before the season reaches its conclusion.

🚨 Relegation Battle

The bottom two positions are the relegation spots, making every point extremely valuable for the teams at the foot of the table.

Chelsea entered the round in 29th and suffered another defeat, while other struggling clubs also need to start putting together positive results if they want to escape the danger zone.
