🏆 Alajuelense Remain the Team to Beat
Liga Deportiva Alajuelense entered Round 5 at the top of Group C and maintained that position after a 1–1 draw with Olympique de Marseille.
Although dropping two points against a team ranked 24th will be disappointing, Alajuelense remains the early benchmark for the division. With automatic promotion at stake, maintaining consistency will be crucial over the remaining 45 rounds.
The draw also demonstrates that the leading teams cannot afford to underestimate opponents lower down the standings.
🔥 Górnik Zabrze Suffer a Setback
Górnik Zabrze, who entered the round in 3rd place, suffered a 2–1 defeat away to Eintracht Frankfurt.
It was a costly result for a team hoping to remain in the automatic-promotion conversation. Frankfurt deserves credit for shutting down one of Group C's leading clubs and taking all three points.
With the top nine qualifying for the playoffs, however, Górnik still has plenty of room to recover.
🚨 Partizan Shocked by Ensenada
One of the biggest upsets came at Partizan, where 4th-place FK Partizan suffered a heavy 4–1 defeat to Ensenada F.C.
Partizan entered the match among the promotion contenders, making the result particularly damaging. Ensenada, meanwhile, demonstrated that teams outside the early playoff picture can still cause serious problems for the favorites.
A four-goal away performance is exactly the kind of result that can propel a team up the table.
⚔️ The Playoff Race
The battle for positions 2–9 is already extremely competitive.
Several teams that entered Round 5 near the playoff places dropped valuable points, while clubs from further down the table recorded major victories.
HEX Wanderers, Partizan, and Górnik Zabrze all suffered defeats, while Ensenada, Lech Poznań, and Hoffenheim collected important wins.
The early standings should therefore be treated cautiously. With only five of 50 rounds completed, there are still 45 rounds remaining, giving every club plenty of opportunity to climb.
🏅 Friendly Cup & King's Cup Picture
The fight for 10th place and the Friendly Cup is also beginning to develop.
Teams currently outside the top nine will be looking to turn narrow defeats and draws into victories before the middle of the season. Meanwhile, the clubs around 11th and 12th have the added incentive of securing King's Cup qualification.
Because there is no relegation, even the teams at the bottom of the table have everything to play for. Their objective is simply to climb as high as possible and secure the best possible competition qualification.

📈 Five Rounds Down, 45 to Go
After five rounds, Liga Deportiva Alajuelense has established itself as the early team to watch, but Group C is already showing signs of being extremely unpredictable.
The defeats suffered by Górnik Zabrze and FK Partizan, combined with impressive performances from clubs such as Ensenada and Lech Poznań, have prevented the leading group from pulling away.
With 45 rounds still to play, the promotion race is only beginning. Automatic promotion is the ultimate prize, but with eight playoff positions available from 2nd through 9th, virtually every club still has a realistic opportunity to make a run at League II.
