Round 24 of the Premier World League Season 2026 delivered another exciting slate of matches in Group C, with several major clashes directly affecting the playoff picture. With 24 of 62 rounds completed, there are still 38 rounds remaining, but the race for the top 16 is becoming increasingly intense.
The current qualification structure remains:
- 🏆 1st–4th: World Cup of Clubs
- 🔵 5th–16th: Playoff positions
- 🟢 17th–22nd: Friendly Cup
- 🟡 23rd–26th: King's Cup
- 🔴 31st–32nd: Relegation
🏆 Newcastle United Hold Onto First
Newcastle United remain 1st, but they were unable to collect all three points after being held to a 1–1 draw by Atlético Madrid at St James' Park.
Newcastle came into the match with an impressive run of five consecutive victories, so the draw represents a small setback. Nevertheless, remaining at the top keeps Newcastle firmly in the World Cup of Clubs places.
Atlético Madrid, ranked 11th, take an important point from the league leaders and remain safely inside the playoff positions.
🇯🇵 FC Tokyo Make a Statement
One of the strongest results of the round came from FC Tokyo, who defeated Vegalta Sendai 4–2 on the road.
FC Tokyo entered the match ranked 3rd, putting them firmly in the World Cup of Clubs race. Their five-match form had been inconsistent, but this six-goal thriller gives the Japanese side a major boost.
Vegalta, meanwhile, remain 20th, inside the Friendly Cup zone.
🔥 Bolivar Defeat Second-Place Urawa
Bolivar pulled off a huge 3–2 victory over Urawa Reds, creating one of the most important results at the top of the Group C table.
Urawa entered Round 24 ranked 2nd, while Bolivar were 5th. The result therefore represents a major opportunity for Bolivar to close the gap on the coveted top four.
Bolivar's position just outside the World Cup of Clubs places makes this victory especially valuable.
🌎 LA Galaxy Enter the Playoff Zone
LA Galaxy defeated FC Edmonton 2–1, moving the American club into 16th place, the final playoff position.
That makes this one of the most significant results of the round. Galaxy are now sitting directly on the playoff cutoff, meaning every point will be crucial as the season progresses.
FC Edmonton, ranked 31st, suffered another damaging defeat and remain in one of the two relegation positions.
⚔️ Top-Four Race
The battle for the four World Cup of Clubs positions is becoming fascinating.
Newcastle United remain 1st despite their draw, while Urawa Reds suffered a damaging defeat to Bolivar. FC Tokyo, ranked 3rd, strengthened their position with their 4–2 win.
Meanwhile, Bolivar's victory over Urawa could have major consequences as the season develops. Sitting 5th, they are now knocking on the door of the top four.
The leading contenders are beginning to separate themselves from the rest of the playoff pack, but there is still plenty of time for the standings to change.
🔵 Playoff Battle: Places 5–16
The playoff positions produced several important results.
Sevilla, ranked 6th, continued their strong campaign with a 2–1 victory over Manchester City. Sevilla entered the match with five consecutive wins, making this another impressive result for one of Group C's hottest teams.
Bayer 04 Leverkusen, ranked 7th, also earned three points, defeating New York Red Bulls 2–1. Leverkusen's victory keeps them firmly in the playoff race.
Hansa Rostock, ranked 13th, picked up a valuable 2–1 win over Crystal Palace. Palace entered the round in 26th, so Hansa avoided a potential upset while collecting three important points.
Cerezo Osaka, ranked 10th, suffered a disappointing 2–1 home defeat to The Strongest, ranked 25th. It is a costly result for Cerezo against a team much lower in the table.
LA Galaxy's win over Edmonton was also crucial because it placed them at 16th, meaning the American side currently occupies the final playoff ticket.
💥 Bahia Shock Union Española
Bahia produced one of the round's biggest results, defeating Union Española 3–2 away from home.
Bahia entered the match ranked 4th, so the victory keeps them firmly inside the World Cup of Clubs places. Union Española, ranked 14th, remain in the playoff zone despite the defeat.
For Bahia, however, the three points are particularly important with the teams immediately behind them applying pressure.
⚽ Sevilla Continue Their Surge
Another team worth watching is Sevilla.
The Spanish club defeated Manchester City 2–1 and entered the game with five consecutive victories. At 6th place, Sevilla are currently one of the strongest teams outside the World Cup of Clubs positions.
If their form continues, they could quickly become a serious challenger for one of the top four places.
🟢 Friendly Cup Race
Positions 17–22 are the Friendly Cup positions, and there was plenty of movement among those teams.
Zenit Saint Petersburg, ranked 17th, defeated Hamburg 3–1. Hamburg entered the round in 8th, making this an excellent result for Zenit against a playoff-level opponent.
Vegalta Sendai, 20th, lost 4–2 to FC Tokyo.
Ulsan Hyundai, ranked 22nd, suffered a surprising 2–1 defeat to América, ranked 24th. That result keeps the teams around the Friendly Cup cutoff under pressure.
Austin FC, ranked 21st, drew 2–2 with Newell's, who sit 19th. Neither side was able to make significant progress toward the playoff positions.
🟡 King's Cup Battle
The King's Cup positions are 23rd–26th, and several teams in this section picked up valuable results.
The Strongest, ranked 25th, produced a huge upset by defeating Cerezo Osaka 2–1. The three points are extremely valuable as The Strongest try to climb out of the King's Cup places.
América, ranked 24th, also collected a major victory, beating Ulsan Hyundai 2–1.
Meanwhile, Limón, ranked 23rd, fought Juventus to a thrilling 3–3 draw. Juventus entered at 28th, so Limón will probably feel they missed an opportunity to take all three points.
🔴 Relegation Battle
The bottom of the table remains dangerous.
FC Edmonton, ranked 31st, lost 2–1 to LA Galaxy and remain in a relegation position.
Santa Tecla, ranked 32nd, did manage to produce an impressive result, defeating Borussia Dortmund 3–2. That victory could prove extremely important in their attempt to escape the bottom two.
With 38 rounds remaining, however, there is still plenty of opportunity for both clubs to turn their seasons around.
