Round 22 is complete, and the Group A table has undergone some major changes. With 22 of 62 games played, there are now 40 rounds remaining, but the races at the top, around the playoff cutoff, and at the bottom are becoming increasingly intense.
🏆 World Cup of Clubs Race — Top 4
The biggest development is that Sport Boys have taken sole possession of first place.
🥇 1. Sport Boys — 52 points
Sport Boys are the new leaders after an emphatic 5–1 victory over Cesar Vallejo. They now have a 16-4-2 record and have opened a three-point lead over Sporting Cristal.
🥈 2. Sporting Cristal — 51 points
Cristal remain right behind the leaders after beating Southam 3–2. Their consistency has been remarkable, with only one defeat all season. They are just one point behind Sport Boys.
🥉 3. Valencia — 49 points
Valencia suffered a significant setback, losing 3–2 to Atlético Grau. They remain in the World Cup of Clubs positions, but their lead over fourth-place Universitario has been cut to just four points.
4. Universitario — 45 points
Universitario produced one of the most important wins of the round, beating Deportivo Pereira 5–4 in a nine-goal thriller. They have now moved to within four points of Valencia and remain firmly in the top-four race.

⚽ Playoff Positions — 1st through 16th
The playoff picture remains extremely competitive, with Deportivo Cali sitting just outside the top four.
5. Deportivo Cali — 44 points
Cali fell one position after losing 2–1 to Chankas CYC. They remain five points behind Universitario, but still have a comfortable position inside the playoff zone.
6. Manchester United — 41 points
United defeated Danubio 2–1 and moved to 41 points. They are now level with Aucas but hold sixth place thanks to their superior goal difference.
7. Aucas — 41 points
Aucas also picked up three points, defeating Chelsea 3–2. Their victory keeps them level with Manchester United and firmly inside the playoff positions.
8. Chankas CYC — 38 points
Chankas produced one of the round's biggest results by beating Deportivo Cali. That victory moved them into eighth place and leaves them just three points behind Aucas and United.
9. Cienciano — 37 points
Cienciano remain in the playoff zone despite not playing in the Round 22 schedule shown. Their incredible recent run has kept them among the leading contenders.
10. Hong Kong FC — 37 points
Hong Kong FC slipped slightly after losing 3–2 to Vancouver Whitecaps, but remain inside the playoffs.
11. Bolognesi — 37 points
Bolognesi are one of the biggest winners of the round. Their 4–2 victory over Real Racing moved them up into 11th and brought them level with Cienciano and Hong Kong FC.
12. Atlético Grau — 35 points
Atlético Grau produced the shock result of the round by defeating first-place Valencia 3–2. That victory moves them up to 12th and gives them a significant boost in the playoff race.
13. Alianza Lima — 33 points
Alianza continued their excellent rise by defeating Feyenoord 3–1. They have now climbed into 13th and are only two points behind Atlético Grau.
14. Cruz Azul — 32 points
Cruz Azul defeated Calvary FC 2–1, moving to 32 points and strengthening their position in the playoff zone.
15. Santa Fe — 29 points
Santa Fe remains on 29 points and stays inside the playoffs.
16. Vancouver Whitecaps — 29 points
Vancouver takes the final playoff spot after defeating Hong Kong FC 3–2.
The playoff cutoff is now extremely interesting because Vancouver has 29 points, while 17th-place Real Racing also has 29.
🔥 Playoff Line: Vancouver vs. Real Racing
The most important battle outside the top four is currently the 16th/17th-place split.
16th — Vancouver Whitecaps: 29 points, +2 GD
17th — Real Racing: 29 points, -4 GD
Both teams have exactly the same number of points, but Vancouver's superior goal difference keeps them in the playoffs.
Real Racing suffered a damaging 4–2 defeat to Bolognesi, dropping them out of the top 16.
With 40 rounds still remaining, this could be the beginning of a fascinating battle for the final playoff spots.
🟡 Friendly Cup — Positions 17–22
The current Friendly Cup positions are:
- Real Racing — 29
- Deportivo Saprissa — 29
- Deportivo Pereira — 28
- Arsenal — 27
- São Paulo — 25
- San Jose — 24
Saprissa lost 4–2 to Montreal Impact and remains on 29 points.
Deportivo Pereira had a heartbreaking night, losing 5–4 to Universitario despite scoring four goals.
São Paulo earned a valuable 2–1 victory over Arsenal, moving to 25 points.
San Jose and Libertad played to a 3–3 draw, with San Jose holding 22nd place and Libertad moving into the King's Cup zone.
The Friendly Cup race is wide open, with only five points separating 17th from 22nd.
🏆 King's Cup — Positions 23–26
The current King's Cup places are:
- Libertad — 23
- Calvary FC — 23
- Feyenoord — 23
- Cesar Vallejo — 21
The three teams on 23 points are separated by goal difference.
Libertad's 3–3 draw with San Jose was enough to move them into 23rd.
Calvary FC lost 2–1 to Cruz Azul, while Feyenoord suffered a 3–1 defeat against Alianza Lima.
Cesar Vallejo's situation is becoming increasingly dangerous. Their 5–1 loss to Sport Boys leaves them five points from the Friendly Cup places and firmly inside the King's Cup zone.
🚨 Relegation Battle
The bottom two remain:
31. Southam — 16 points
32. U de Chile — 12 points
Southam lost 3–2 to Sporting Cristal and remains on 16 points.
U de Chile had an awful Round 22, suffering a 5–1 defeat to Pegasus. The result leaves them at just 12 points and still firmly at the bottom.
Interestingly, Pegasus' victory was enormous for their survival hopes. They moved from 14 to 17 points and reduced their deficit to the teams immediately above them.
There are now just four points separating 29th-place Chelsea and 31st-place Southam, so the relegation battle is far from settled.

📊 The Round 22 Story
The championship race has become a three-team battle, with Sport Boys, Sporting Cristal and Valencia occupying the top three positions. Universitario is still within striking distance, but Deportivo Cali has fallen five points outside the World Cup of Clubs places.
The playoff race is even tighter. Positions 8 through 16 are separated by only nine points, while Vancouver and Real Racing are tied at 29 points for the final playoff position.
Meanwhile, the Friendly Cup and King's Cup races are incredibly congested. A single victory could move a team several places.
And at the bottom, Pegasus' huge win over U de Chile has injected new life into the relegation battle.
