Round 7 of League III Season 2026 delivered another dramatic set of results in Group A, with several of the leading clubs dropping points and the promotion race tightening considerably. With 50 rounds on the schedule, there are still 43 rounds to play, but the early battle for the top nine is becoming increasingly fascinating.
Toronto FC Gets Back to Winning Ways
After suffering their first defeat of the season in Round 6, Toronto FC responded with a 3–2 victory over ASCE La Linguère.
Toronto entered the match ranked 1st, and the win was exactly what the Canadian club needed to maintain its position at the summit. The leaders have now demonstrated their ability to bounce back quickly after a setback.
The victory keeps Toronto in the driver's seat for the most important prize in League III: automatic promotion to League II.
Dakar Stuns Atlético Ottawa
AS Dakar Sacré-Cœur continued its excellent run by defeating Atlético Ottawa 4–3 in one of the most entertaining matches of the round.
Dakar entered the fixture ranked fifth and had already defeated Toronto in Round 6. Another seven-goal thriller gives the Senegalese club tremendous momentum in the promotion race.
Ottawa, meanwhile, entered the match 18th and will be disappointed to concede four goals despite scoring three themselves.
Viking Produces a Huge Win Over Pirata
One of the biggest results of Round 7 came at the top of the table, where Viking FK defeated Pirata FC 4–2.
Pirata entered the match ranked 2nd, meaning this was a major opportunity for Viking to make a statement against one of the league's leading clubs.
Viking's four-goal performance was particularly impressive considering Pirata's excellent recent form. The result could have major implications for the battle for the automatic promotion position and the playoff places.
Coquimbo Beats Dynamo Moscow
Coquimbo Unido continued its strong campaign with a 2–1 victory over Dynamo Moscow.
Coquimbo entered the match ranked fourth, putting the Chilean club firmly among the promotion contenders. Dynamo, ranked 20th, was unable to produce the upset.
Coquimbo's consistency is becoming one of the early stories of Group A, and another three points keeps the club firmly in the playoff conversation.

Cobresal pulled off an important 3–2 victory over PFC CSKA Moscow.
CSKA entered the fixture ranked ninth, meaning Cobresal was taking on a club occupying the final promotion playoff position. Cobresal's victory gives the Chilean side valuable momentum in what is shaping up to be a very competitive race for positions 2–9.
Iquique Dominates Union Berlin
Deportes Iquique enjoyed one of the more convincing victories of the round, defeating FC Union Berlin 3–1.
Iquique entered Round 7 ranked third and continues to look like a serious challenger near the top of Group A. Union Berlin, ranked 25th, remains in the lower part of the standings.
The Chilean side's combination of strong attacking performances and a place near the top makes Iquique one of the clubs to watch as the season progresses.
Audax Holds Its Playoff Position
Audax Italiano defeated FC Köln 2–1 in another important result.
Audax entered the match ranked seventh, meaning the Chilean club was already comfortably inside the 2nd–9th promotion playoff zone. The victory strengthens its position and keeps pressure on the clubs above.
Köln, ranked 12th entering the match, remains just outside the playoff places and will be looking to recover quickly.
Guangzhou Earns a Big Away Victory
Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao produced one of the round's biggest surprises by defeating Chaco Petrolero 4–2.
Guangzhou entered the match 24th, while Chaco was ranked 11th. The six-goal contest therefore represented a significant upset on paper.
For Guangzhou, this could be the type of result that sparks a climb up the table. Chaco, meanwhile, missed an opportunity to strengthen its position around the King's Cup qualification zone.
Shandong Cruises Past Defence Force
Shandong Luneng Taishan recorded the round's largest winning margin, defeating Defence Force 4–1.
Shandong entered the match 17th, while Defence Force was 15th. The emphatic victory gives Shandong three valuable points and could provide a much-needed boost toward the middle of the standings.
Other Round 7 Results
Excelsior Rotterdam defeated SC Heerenveen 3–1, giving the 26th-ranked club a valuable victory against a side that entered the round 14th.
AZ Alkmaar defeated Casa Sports 2–1, earning another important result in the lower half of the table.
FC Akron Tolyatti beat Raja 2–1, handing the eighth-ranked Moroccan side a costly defeat. Akron entered the match 16th, making the victory particularly important for its attempt to climb toward the qualification positions.
Club Deportivo Palestino and RB Leipzig produced another close contest, with Leipzig winning 3–2. Leipzig entered the match 19th, while Palestino was 13th, making this another valuable result for a team trying to climb the table.
Qualification Picture After Seven Rounds
The League III Group A structure remains clear:

The battle behind Toronto may be even more intriguing. Pirata's 4–2 loss to Viking opens the door for several challengers, while the results involving CSKA and Raja show just how difficult it may be to remain inside the top nine.
There are still 43 rounds remaining, so nobody can afford to panic this early. However, Round 7 has reinforced the idea that Group A could feature an extremely tight fight for automatic promotion, the eight playoff places, and the final Friendly Cup and King's Cup positions.
