League III Season 2026 Group D Round 3 Recap

Round 3 of League III Season 2026 — Group D produced another exciting set of results, with several high-ranking teams picking up important victories and the promotion race already beginning to take shape.

With the season running for 50 rounds, there is still a long way to go. However, the teams currently occupying the top positions are putting themselves in excellent early positions for automatic promotion and the promotion playoffs.

Deportivo Táchira Stay on Top

Deportivo Táchira maintained their position at the summit with a 2–1 victory over CD Choloma.

Táchira remain 1st, meaning they currently hold the most valuable position in the division: automatic promotion to League II. Their perfect start gives them an early advantage over the chasing pack.

Choloma fall to 14th, leaving them outside the current qualification places.

San Lorenzo Keep the Pressure On

San Lorenzo de Almagro defeated Canon Yaoundé 3–2 in a hard-fought match.

San Lorenzo sit 2nd, putting them in the first of the promotion playoff positions. However, they are clearly within striking distance of Táchira and will be hoping to challenge for the automatic promotion spot.

Canon remain 18th after the defeat.

Blooming Produce a Big Away Victory

One of the round's impressive results came from Blooming, who defeated Club Plaza Colonia 3–2.

Blooming are currently 9th, placing them in the final promotion playoff position. Plaza Colonia, despite entering the match in 3rd, drop to 3rd after the defeat.

This is exactly the kind of result that could become important later in the season as the battle for the top nine intensifies.

Talleres Stay in the Top Four

Talleres de Córdoba earned a 2–1 victory over R.S.C. Anderlecht.

Talleres currently occupy 4th, keeping them comfortably inside the promotion playoff positions. Anderlecht, meanwhile, sit 22nd and remain outside the qualification picture.

Talleres' consistency at the start of the season makes them one of the early teams to watch.

Centro Atlético Fénix Lose a Thriller

Puntarenas F.C. picked up a valuable 3–2 victory over Centro Atlético Fénix.

Fénix entered the round in 5th, but the defeat leaves them there while Puntarenas move into 15th. Fénix remain inside the playoff field and will be looking to bounce back quickly.

CD Dandy Pull Off an Upset

C.D. Dandy defeated Zamora F.C. 3–2 in another important result.

Dandy currently sit 6th, giving them a strong position in the playoff race. Zamora are 23rd, so the result gives Dandy three valuable points against a team currently near the bottom of the table.

LDU Quito Move Up

L.D.U. Quito defeated Municipal Pérez Zeledón 2–1.

LDU are currently 12th, meaning they sit just outside the playoff positions and in the King's Cup qualification zone.

Municipal Pérez Zeledón are 7th despite the loss, so they remain comfortably inside the promotion playoff places.

Mushuc Runa Earn Three Points

Mushuc Runa S.C. defeated AIK Fotboll 3–2.

Mushuc currently occupy 8th, giving them a valuable place inside the promotion playoff field. AIK are 26th, but with no relegation in League III, they still have plenty of time to turn their season around.

Other Important Results

Several other matches produced valuable points:

  • Aldeals IK defeated Arameiska-Syrianska IF 4–2, with Aldeals sitting 10th and Arameiska 11th. Aldeals currently hold the Friendly Cup position, while Arameiska occupy a King's Cup spot.

Group D Qualification Picture

After three rounds, the important positions are:

  • 🥇 1st — Deportivo Táchira: Automatic promotion to League II
  • 🏆 2nd–9th: Promotion playoffs
  • 🤝 10th — Aldeals IK: Friendly Cup
  • 👑 11th–12th: King's Cup

  • No relegation: Bottom positions are not at risk of relegation

The current promotion playoff field consists of San Lorenzo de Almagro, Club Plaza Colonia, Talleres de Córdoba, Centro Atlético Fénix, C.D. Dandy, Municipal Pérez Zeledón, Mushuc Runa and Blooming.

A Strong Start for Táchira

After three rounds, Deportivo Táchira have established themselves as the early leaders, while San Lorenzo and Plaza Colonia are close behind.

The playoff battle is already extremely competitive, with Talleres, Fénix, Dandy, Municipal Pérez Zeledón, Mushuc Runa and Blooming all inside the top nine.

Meanwhile, Aldeals IK currently occupy the coveted Friendly Cup position at 10th, while Arameiska-Syrianska and LDU Quito hold the King's Cup places.

With 47 rounds still remaining, there is plenty of opportunity for teams in the middle and lower portions of the table to climb. But after Round 3, Táchira are the early team everyone else in Group D will be chasing.
