Round 7 of League III Season 2026 was an absolute goal-fest in Group B, with 55 goals scored across 13 matches. There were plenty of dramatic results, including several high-scoring thrillers and some major victories for teams battling near the top of the table.
With only seven rounds completed in a 50-round season, there is still a long road ahead, but the promotion race is already becoming fascinating.
Celta Vigo Return to Winning Ways
RC Celta de Vigo 4–2 Royal Antwerp F.C. was one of the biggest results of the round.
After suffering a 3–2 defeat to Super Nova in Round 6, Celta responded in emphatic fashion. The home side scored four times at Balaídos Stadium to secure a convincing victory over Antwerp.
Celta entered the match ranked third, while Antwerp were 12th, so the three points are extremely valuable for Celta's pursuit of the automatic promotion position.
Rayo Vallecano Edge Super Nova
Rayo Vallecano 2–1 SK Super Nova produced a fascinating matchup between two teams that entered the round near opposite ends of the table.
Super Nova had just defeated Celta in Round 6, but Rayo stopped their momentum with a narrow home victory. Rayo entered the match fourth, while Super Nova were 13th.
The result gives Rayo another important three points in the race for the playoff positions.
Villarreal Defeat Rézeknes
Villarreal CF 2–1 Rézeknes FA/BJSS saw Villarreal claim another home victory.
Villarreal entered the match ninth, meaning they were sitting right on the edge of the playoff zone. The victory keeps them in the hunt for one of the coveted top-nine positions.
Rézeknes, meanwhile, continue to search for consistency after another narrow defeat.
Benfica Win a Five-Goal Thriller
S.L. Benfica 3–2 BFC Daugavpils was another entertaining contest.
Benfica entered the match 11th, while Daugavpils were 21st. Despite the difference in the standings, Daugavpils pushed Benfica all the way, but the Portuguese side eventually secured all three points.
Benfica's victory could prove important as they attempt to break into the playoff picture.
Charleroi and Monaco Share Four Goals
Royal Charleroi S.C. 2–2 Monaco FC ended in a thrilling draw.
Charleroi were ranked 14th and Monaco 16th, so neither side could afford to drop too many points. Both teams found the net twice, but neither could produce a decisive third goal.
The point keeps both clubs within striking distance of the teams ahead of them.
Gent Held by Águilas Doradas
KAA Gent 2–2 Águilas Doradas was another four-goal draw.
Gent entered the fixture ranked 25th, while Águilas were 18th. Gent managed to earn a point at home, but the result does little to close the gap on the teams above them.
Águilas will probably feel that this was an opportunity to collect three points against a lower-ranked opponent.
Helsingør Fall to Deportes Concepción
FC Helsingør 2–3 Deportes Concepción was a major away victory.
Helsingør entered the match ranked 23rd, while Deportes Concepción were 16th. The Chilean side showed plenty of character to score three goals on the road and take all three points.
The result strengthens Deportes Concepción's position as they look toward the middle and upper sections of the table.
Bogotá Smash Horsens
One of the most impressive performances of Round 7 came from Internacional de Bogotá, who defeated AC Horsens 1–4.
Bogotá entered the match ranked 10th and delivered a statement performance against 11th-place Horsens. Four goals away from home give Bogotá a huge boost in the standings and keep them firmly involved in the playoff conversation.
For Horsens, it was a disappointing afternoon after entering the game with hopes of moving upward.
Independiente Medellín Defeat Hvidovre
Hvidovre IF 2–3 Independiente Medellín was another five-goal thriller.
Hvidovre entered the match 15th, while Medellín were 19th. Despite being lower in the standings, Medellín produced an important away victory.
The result could become a turning point for Medellín if they can build momentum from it.
Dinamo București Continue Their Strong Form
FC Dinamo București 2–1 Cúcuta Deportivo was a valuable victory for the Romanian side.
Dinamo entered the match eighth, firmly inside the promotion playoff positions. Cúcuta were seventh, making this a particularly important battle between two teams near the top.
Dinamo's victory allows them to strengthen their position while simultaneously denying a direct playoff rival valuable points.
Unirea and Once Caldas Battle to a Draw
AFC Unirea Slobozia 2–2 Once Caldas produced one of the round's most important draws.
Once Caldas entered the match first in the standings, meaning they were fighting to protect the automatic promotion position. Unirea, ranked 22nd, managed to hold the league leaders to a draw.
For Once Caldas, dropping two points against a team near the bottom of the table is certainly disappointing. However, they remain in an excellent position this early in the season.
Gloria Buzău Defeat Canadian
FC Gloria Buzău 2–1 Canadian (URU) gave the home side a much-needed victory.
Gloria entered the match 26th, while Canadian were 24th. The three points are particularly important because the teams at the bottom are still capable of climbing several positions during such a long season.
And importantly, there is no relegation from the bottom positions, so the focus for these clubs is on climbing the table and securing the best possible cup qualification.
Violette Win a Seven-Goal Classic
The match of the round was undoubtedly Violette Athletic Club 3–4 Africa Sports FC.
Seven goals were scored in an incredible back-and-forth contest, with Africa Sports eventually emerging victorious.
Violette entered the match ranked third, while Africa Sports were 20th, making this a major upset. Africa Sports showed tremendous attacking quality to score four times against one of the league's highest-ranked teams.
For Violette, it was a painful defeat, particularly given their position near the top of the standings.
The Promotion Picture
After seven rounds, the battle at the top of Group B is already incredibly competitive.
The league's qualification structure makes every position important:
- 🥇 1st place: Automatic promotion to League II
- 🏆 2nd–9th: Promotion playoffs for the second League II promotion spot
- 🟢 10th: Friendly Cup qualification
- 👑 11th–12th: King's Cup qualification
- 🔓 13th–26th: No relegation
The biggest winners of Round 7 were Celta Vigo, Rayo Vallecano, Villarreal, Benfica, Dinamo București, and Internacional de Bogotá, all of whom collected important points in the battle for the upper portion of the standings.
Meanwhile, Once Caldas' draw and Violette's shock defeat demonstrate just how quickly the standings can change.
With 43 rounds still remaining, there is plenty of time for teams to make their move. But with 55 goals scored in Round 7 alone, Group B is already proving to be one of the most unpredictable and entertaining competitions in League III!
