League III Season 2026 — Group C Round 9 Recap

Round 9 of League III Season 2026 was another action-packed round in Group C, with 13 matches producing 57 goals. There were 11 victories and just two draws, making this one of the most decisive rounds of the season so far.

🔥 TSG Hoffenheim 4–3 FK Partizan

Hoffenheim opened the round with a thrilling 4–3 victory over Partizan. The seven-goal battle was one of the most entertaining matches of the round, with Hoffenheim holding on for three valuable points.

🇩🇪 Eintracht Frankfurt 3–3 Red Star Belgrade

Eintracht Frankfurt and Red Star Belgrade produced another high-scoring contest. The teams exchanged goals throughout the match before settling for a 3–3 draw. Both sides will probably feel they were close to taking all three points.

🇵🇱 Lech Poznań 2–1 FSC Bucovyna Chernivtsi

Lech Poznań earned an important 2–1 home victory against Bucovyna. It was a tight contest, but Lech managed to find the extra goal needed to secure the win.

⚔️ KS Cracovia 4–2 FC Kramatorsk

Cracovia produced one of the more convincing attacking performances of the round, defeating Kramatorsk 4–2. Six goals were scored as Cracovia's offense proved too much for the Ukrainian side.

🇺🇦 Górnik Zabrze 2–3 FC Arsenal Kyiv

Arsenal Kyiv came away from Zabrze with all three points after a 3–2 victory over Górnik. The match remained close until the end, but Arsenal managed to protect its narrow advantage.

🇷🇸 FK Vojvodina 4–2 Wanderers Grounds

Vojvodina delivered a strong performance against Wanderers Grounds, winning 4–2. The six-goal game gave Vojvodina a much-needed boost after a difficult stretch of results.

🇮🇪 Bohemians 2–1 HFX Wanderers

Bohemians secured a valuable 2–1 victory over HFX Wanderers. The Irish side took advantage of its opportunities and held on for a narrow but important win.

🚨 Drogheda United 3–2 Tuzos UAZ

One of the biggest upsets of Round 9 came at United Park. Drogheda United, ranked 26th, stunned second-ranked Tuzos UAZ 3–2. Tuzos entered the match with an impressive five-game winning streak shown in the form guide, making Drogheda's victory even more remarkable.

🇮🇪 Shamrock Rovers 4–2 Ensenada F.C.

Another major upset saw Shamrock Rovers defeat third-ranked Ensenada F.C. 4–2. Ensenada had been one of Group C's strongest teams, but Shamrock's four-goal attack produced one of the round's biggest surprises.

⭐ Liga Deportiva Alajuelense 2–2 Tecos F.C.

A huge top-of-the-table battle ended in a 2–2 draw between fifth-ranked Alajuelense and first-ranked Tecos. Tecos entered the match with five straight wins in its recent form, but Alajuelense managed to stop the league leader from taking another victory.

This could prove to be a particularly important point for Alajuelense as the season progresses.

🇲🇽 C.D. Barrio México 3–2 C.D. Numancia

Fourth-ranked Barrio México continued its strong campaign with a 3–2 victory over Numancia. Barrio México came through another close match to keep itself firmly involved in the promotion conversation.

🇫🇷 Olympique de Marseille 2–1 Braga

Marseille picked up a narrow 2–1 victory over Braga. After a competitive battle, Marseille found enough to take all three points and improve its position in the increasingly crowded middle of the group.

🇫🇷 Olympique Lyonnais 3–2 FC Supra du Québec

The round concluded with another five-goal thriller. Lyon defeated FC Supra du Québec 3–2, earning a hard-fought victory in front of its home supporters.

📈 The Promotion Race Gets Interesting

Round 9 could have significant consequences for the top of Group C.

Tecos F.C. entered the round ranked No. 1, but could only draw 2–2 with Alajuelense. Tuzos UAZ, ranked No. 2, suffered a stunning 3–2 defeat to last-place Drogheda United, while No. 3 Ensenada F.C. lost 4–2 to Shamrock Rovers.

Meanwhile, No. 4 Barrio México picked up a win, while No. 5 Alajuelense held the league leader to a draw. That combination means the leading pack could become considerably tighter after the round.

The stakes are clear: after all 50 rounds, the team finishing 1st earns automatic promotion to League II. Teams finishing 2nd through 9th qualify for the promotion playoffs, giving them another route to League II.

The teams outside the promotion places still have something to fight for. 10th place qualifies for the Friendly Cup, while 11th and 12th go to the King's Cup. And with no relegation from League III, even the teams at the bottom can concentrate on climbing the table and fighting for a cup position.

🔥 Round 9 Takeaways

  • 57 goals in 13 matches
  • 11 wins and 2 draws
  • Tecos held to a draw despite entering ranked 1st
  • Tuzos UAZ suffered a huge upset against Drogheda
  • Ensenada lost to Shamrock Rovers
  • Barrio México continued its strong run with a win
  • Alajuelense earned a valuable point against the league leader
  • The promotion race is becoming increasingly competitive

With 41 rounds still remaining, there is plenty of time for the standings to change—but Round 9 showed that even the strongest teams in Group C are vulnerable.
