Round 5 of the Premier World League League III Season 2026 produced another action-packed set of results, with all 26 teams in Group A taking the field. With 50 rounds on the schedule, there is still a long way to go, but the early table is already beginning to reveal which clubs are positioning themselves for promotion and the playoff race.
Toronto FC Strengthens Its Grip on First Place
Toronto FC (1) delivered the most impressive performance of the round, defeating Casa Sports (19) by a commanding 5–1 scoreline. Toronto's fourth consecutive win in its recent-match sequence underlines why the Canadian club sits at the top of the table.
As the current #1 team, Toronto occupies the most valuable position in League III: an automatic promotion spot to League II. Casa, meanwhile, remains well outside the playoff places and will need a significant turnaround.
Pirata FC Keeps Pressure on the Leaders
Pirata FC (2) maintained its excellent position with a 2–1 victory over FC Union Berlin (23). The Peruvian side is currently second, putting it directly into the promotion playoff positions.
Pirata's win is particularly important because the clubs occupying positions 2–9 will enter the playoff tournament for the second promotion place. Union Berlin, on the other hand, remains in the lower reaches of the standings.
The Top Four Remain Highly Competitive
Raja (4) and AS Dakar Sacré-Cœur (5) played to a 2–2 draw, preventing either side from gaining ground on the other. Raja remains fourth while Dakar sits fifth, with both currently positioned for the promotion playoffs.
The biggest result involving a top-five club came from PFC CSKA Moscow (7), which defeated FC Köln (3) 2–1. Köln's defeat costs the third-ranked side valuable points, while CSKA strengthens its position inside the playoff zone.
Deportes Iquique (6) also enjoyed a strong round, beating Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao (20) 3–2. Iquique's victory keeps the Chilean club firmly inside the top nine.
Coquimbo United Makes a Statement
One of the round's notable results came from Coquimbo Unido (8), which defeated ASCE La Linguère (21) 3–2.
Coquimbo's position inside the top eight puts the club safely in the promotion playoff picture after five rounds. ASCE, however, remains outside the playoff positions and will need to collect points quickly to avoid falling further behind.
The Fight Around the Playoff Cutoff
The battle around ninth and tenth place is already becoming interesting.
Cobresal (9) suffered a 2–1 defeat to FC Akron Tolyatti (16). Despite the loss, Cobresal remains in the final playoff position at ninth. Akron's victory, however, gives the Russian club an important boost as it tries to climb toward the top nine.
Just outside the playoff places is Audax Italiano (10), which drew 2–2 with RB Leipzig (18). Tenth place is significant because it is the final position that qualifies for the Friendly Cup.
That leaves Audax in a potentially valuable position, although the club will certainly want to move into the top nine and secure a playoff berth.
King's Cup Positions
Shandong Luneng Taishan (11) drew 1–1 with Club Deportivo Palestino (17). Shandong currently occupies the first of the two King's Cup positions.
The King's Cup places are 11th and 12th, meaning Shandong is currently qualified while Viking FK (12) holds the other King's Cup position.
Viking earned a valuable 3–2 away victory over Dynamo Moscow (13). The result moves Viking into 12th and puts Dynamo just outside the King's Cup places.
Bottom of the Table
At the bottom, AZ Alkmaar (25) defeated Excelsior Rotterdam (26) 3–2 in an important battle between the final two teams.
The victory gives AZ three valuable points, but both Dutch clubs remain in the bottom two positions. Unlike many leagues, however, League III has no relegation, so the clubs at the bottom are not facing relegation to another division.
Defence Force (14) also suffered a narrow 3–2 defeat to Chaco Petrolero (22), while Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao (20) and Casa Sports (19) remain in the lower half following their defeats.
Round 5 Qualification Picture
After five rounds, the current competition picture is:

- 🎟️ 10th — Audax Italiano: Friendly Cup position

With 45 rounds still remaining, nothing is settled. Toronto has established itself as the early leader, while Pirata, Raja, Köln, Dakar, Iquique, CSKA and Coquimbo are all firmly involved in the promotion battle. Just as importantly, the race around ninth through twelfth is already extremely competitive, with playoff, Friendly Cup and King's Cup positions all at stake.
Round 5 has given Group A an intriguing early shape, but with a 50-round season, there is plenty of time for clubs from the middle and bottom of the table to make their move.
