⚽ Premier World League – Group A Round 61 Recap
With just one round left in the 62-match season, the drama continues to unfold as teams fight for playoff qualification, continental tournament spots, and survival at the bottom.
🏆 Top of the Table Battle
Universitario (PER) stay at the top with 143 points after a 2–1 win over Calvary FC (CND), keeping their narrow lead intact. Cienciano (PER) remain in hot pursuit just one point behind at 142 following a 6–0 victory over São Paulo (BRA). Sporting Cristal (PER) sit third with 141 points after defeating Real Racing (SPA) 5–0, while Valencia (SPA) complete the top four with 140 points after edging Libertad (PAR) 4–2.
These four are on course for World Cup of Clubs qualification, but nothing is set in stone heading into the final round.
⚔️ Playoff Zone (5th–16th)
The middle of the playoff zone is fiercely competitive.
Santa Fe (COL) (137 pts) and Bolognesi (PER) (120 pts) hold steady in the upper playoff positions, while Deportivo Cali (COL) (115 pts) and Barcelona (SPA) (112 pts) keep their playoff dreams alive despite recent losses.
Further down, Alianza Lima (PER), Sport Boys (PER), Manchester United (UK), and Hong Kong FC (HK) all look secure, but Atletico Grau (PER) and San Jose (USA) must stay sharp to avoid slipping late. Arsenal (UK) and Deportivo Saprissa (CTR) round out the playoff places in 15th and 16th respectively.
🏅 Friendly Cup Zone (17th–22nd)
Chelsea (UK) lead this group in 17th, followed closely by U de Chile (CHI), Montreal Impact (USA), Cruz Azul (MEX), Aucas (ECU), and Feyenoord (NEATH).
Each team will look to finish strong to secure their Friendly Cup berth and possibly move up if any playoff hopefuls falter in the last round.
🏆 King’s Cup Zone (23rd–26th)
São Paulo (BRA), Libertad (PAR), Calvary FC (CND), and Deportivo Pereira (COL) currently occupy these positions. None can reach the playoff zone now, but all will aim to build momentum for a strong King’s Cup run.
⚠️ Relegation Battle
At the bottom, Real Racing (SPA) (57 pts), Danubio (URU) (58 pts), Pegasus (HK) (57 pts), and Fulham (UK) (56 pts) are fighting to stay alive—but it’s Southam (UK) (52 pts) and Olmedo (ECU) (52 pts) who sit in the relegation zone after Round 61 which have lost all chances to save the category and will be playing League II next year.
🔥 Next Round Preview
Everything comes down to the final matchday! With just two points separating the top four, the title could go to any of them, while multiple teams are still fighting for the final playoff and Friendly Cup positions. Expect fireworks in Round 62!
