Premier World League 2025 Group B Round 58 Recap

Premier World League – Group B Round 58 Recap

With just four matches left in the 62-game season, the battle for the World Cup of Clubs, playoff positions, and survival is reaching maximum intensity.

🏆 Top 4 – World Cup of Clubs Zone

1. Gamba Osaka (JAP) continue to shine at the top with 131 points, holding a narrow lead thanks to their league-best offense (213 goals scored!). Their last five games (W W L W W) show they’re staying sharp as the finish line approaches.

2. Houston Dynamo (USA) are just one point behind on 130 points. Their consistency and lethal attack (193 goals) keep them right on Osaka’s heels — this title race is going down to the wire.

3. Melgar (PER) sit close at 129 points, keeping pace with the top two. They remain unbeaten in their last five (D D W W W) and could still climb higher if others slip.

4. Columbus Crew (USA) round out the top four with 115 points, solidifying their World Cup of Clubs qualification zone with a strong recent run despite a loss to Boca.

🔥 Playoff Zone (5–16)

  • Boca Juniors (ARG) (5th, 114 pts) and River Plate (ARG) (6th, 107 pts) are both in fine form, making Argentina proud with back-to-back wins.

  • Flamengo (BRA) (7th, 96 pts) and Miami FC (USA) (8th, 96 pts) are neck and neck for the final upper playoff slots.

  • International (BRA) (9th, 93 pts) and Kawasaki Frontale (JAP) (10th, 92 pts) have been inconsistent but remain solidly within the playoff picture.

  • The mid-playoff cluster includes Cerro Porteño (PAR) (11th), Emelec (ECU) (12th), Inter Miami (USA) (13th), Querétaro (MEX) (14th), Chicago Fire (USA) (15th), and Unión Huaral (PER) (16th), all of whom are still jostling for playoff positioning.

The difference between 5th and 16th is only 22 points, so seeding could shift rapidly as we approach Round 62.

🤝 Friendly Cup Zone (17–22)

The middle pack teams will feature in the Friendly Cup, led by:

  • New England Revolution (USA) (17th, 79 pts) — good home form but struggling away.

  • Santos Laguna (MEX) (18th, 75 pts) and Millonarios (COL) (19th, 74 pts) both show flashes of quality but lacked consistency.

  • Caroni (VEN) (20th, 73 pts), Atlético Nacional (COL) (21st, 73 pts), and Puebla (MEX) (22nd, 68 pts) round out the qualifying group, all with a chance to finish higher if results go their way.

👑 King’s Cup Zone (23–26)

These sides will qualify for the King’s Cup:

  • South China (HK) (23rd, 66 pts)

  • Sociedade (BRA) (24th, 64 pts)

  • Yokohama F. Marinos (JAP) (25th, 63 pts)

  • Olimpia (PAR) (26th, 63 pts)
They’re safe from relegation but too far from the playoff chase, making the King’s Cup a chance for redemption.

⚠️ Relegation Battle (Bottom Two)

The bottom of the table is all but decided:

  • Marítimo (POR) (31st, 59 pts) and

  • Africa Sports (CIV) (32nd, 58 pts)
both sit in the relegation zone. A gap of nearly 10 points from safety means survival looks mathematically out of reach unless they win out and others collapse.

🔍 Race Summary

  • Title Race: Gamba Osaka, Houston Dynamo, and Melgar are separated by just two points!

  • Playoffs: From 5th to 16th, fierce battles for better seeding rage on.

  • Cup Qualification: Middle-table sides are positioning for Friendly and King’s Cup play.

  • Relegation: Marítimo and Africa Sports need a miracle to survive.
