Premier World League 2025 Group D Round 57 Recap

Group D - Round 57 Recap (5 Rounds Remaining)

The German-heavy Group D has been a masterclass in consistency at the top, with Wolfsburg and Bayern Munich pulling away early. But with 5 matches left in this 62-round season, the playoff bubble (top 16) is a nail-biter, and the relegation scrap is downright brutal. Top 4 (Club World Cup) is settled, but everything below is wide open.

Top 4 – Club World Cup Spots (locked in)

  1. Wolfsburg (GER) – 120 pts +119 GD, only 6 losses. Guaranteed Club World Cup.
  2. DC United (USA) – 119 pts Sneaked into 2nd on the final day. Unbelievable season for an MLS side.
  3. Bayern Munich (GER) – 119 pts Tied with DC but inferior GD. Still safe – 8-point gap to 5th.
  4. Cusco FC (PER) – 119 pts The surprise package! 34W-17D-6L. Mathematically locked for Club World Cup.

Top 4 is DONE. Wolfsburg, DC United, Bayern, and Cusco are in. No one can catch them (max 15 pts left).

Playoff Spots Battle (5th–16th)

5–16 qualify for playoffs. Gap from 5th to 17th is just 12 points → total carnage possible.

  • Safe zone (playoffs virtually locked):

    • 5. AEK Athens (GRE) – 118 pts
      1. Werder Bremen (GER) – 117 pts
      1. Pyramids FC (EGY) – 117 pts
      1. Sydney FC (NZ) – 116 pts
      1. Real Madrid (SPA) – 115 pts
      1. Deportivo Municipal (PER) – 95 pts
      1. SC Freiburg (GER) – 83 pts

These teams are in unless they lose every remaining game.

  • Bubble teams – sweating hard:

    • 12. Estudiantes (ARG) – 80 pts
      1. Liverpool (UK) – 79 pts
      1. Argentino Juniors (ARG) – 79 pts
      1. Alianza Atlético (PER) – 75 pts
      1. Silkeborg (DK) – 73 pts

Silkeborg hold the last playoff spot, but Atlético Ciclon (BOL, 17th, 73 pts) are level on points and have better GD! Tiebreaker drama incoming.

Mid-Table & Cup Qualifiers

  • 17–22 → Friendly Cup:

    • 17. Atlético Ciclon (BOL) – 73 pts
      1. San Martín (PER) – 70 pts
      1. Colo Colo (CHI) – 63 pts
      1. Binacional (PER) – 61 pts
      1. Spartak Moscow (MC) – 61 pts
      1. PSV/NEATH – 59 pts

Safe from drop, but seeding battles ahead.

  • 23–26 → King’s Cup (danger zone):

    • 23. César Vallejo (PER) – 59 pts
      1. Lokomotiv Moscow (RUS) – 59 pts
      1. Broncos (HON) – 58 pts
      1. Comunicaciones (GT) – 58 pts

Four teams within 1 point of each other – every result is massive.

Relegation Battle (Bottom 2 = auto-drop)

    1. Western City Wanderers – 52 pts
    1. Real Sociedad (SPA) – 50 pts

Real Sociedad are 3 points from safety and have the worst GD (-39). Almost certainly gone. Western City Wanderers (52 pts) are 3 points behind 30th (El Nacional, 55 pts). Need a miracle run.

  • Just above the line (panicking):

    • 29. Huracan (URU) – 55 pts
      1. El Nacional (ECU) – 53 pts

Both could drop into bottom 2 with one bad weekend.
