🏆 League III – Group A Round 27 Recap
Round 27 brought another week of intense action in League III Group A, as teams continued their push toward promotion, playoff qualification, or survival. With 11 matches remaining, every point counts as the table begins to take shape heading into the final stretch.
🔝 Top of the Table Battle
Vancouver Whitecaps FC (CND) remain firmly in control of the league, sitting on 61 points after a convincing run of form, winning their last five matches. Their dominance both home and away — including an impressive +41 goal difference — keeps them clear favorites for automatic promotion to League II.
Deportivo Garcilaso (PER) follow closely with 52 points, continuing to pressure the leaders with a four-match winning streak. Their consistent scoring has kept them ahead of Chaco Petrolero (BOL), who sit third on 48 points, rounding out the automatic playoff zone contenders.
Pirata FC (PER) and Excelsior Rotterdam (NEATH) are also solidly positioned in the top five, both showing good form with recent wins to strengthen their playoff ambitions.
⚔️ Playoff Race Heats Up
From 6th to 9th place, the fight for the playoff spots is intense.
-
Deportes Iquique (CHI) and Audax Italiano (CHI) are level on points with 43, separated only by goal difference.
-
Club Deportivo Palestino (CHI) and PFC CSKA Moscow (RUS) are not far behind, with 41 and 39 points respectively.
This Chilean trio remains a key storyline in Group A, as they battle to represent their nation in the playoffs. CSKA Moscow, meanwhile, are showing signs of resurgence after a slow mid-season period.
⚽ Mid-Table and Cup Positions
Toronto FC (CND) currently hold 10th place on 37 points, securing a Friendly Cup spot for now. However, with Dynamo Moscow (RUS) and Casa Sports (SEN) only a few points behind, Toronto will need to stay consistent to maintain that position.
ASCE La Linguère (SEN) and AZ Alkmaar (NEATH) occupy the 11th and 12th positions, which qualify them for the King’s Cup, both sitting on 33 points. Their form, however, remains inconsistent, and any slip-up could cost them their cup berths.
⚠️ Relegation Zone Pressure
At the lower end of the table, the battle for survival is fierce:
-
FC Akron Tolyatti (RUS) and Atlético Ottawa (CND) sit dangerously close to the bottom with 32 points each.
-
Shandong Luneng Taishan (CHN), SC Heerenveen (NEATH), and AS Dakar Sacré-Cœur (SEN) are all struggling to find form, stuck between 31 and 25 points.
-
Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao (CHN) remain rooted to the bottom with only 1 point, having conceded a staggering 129 goals this season.
🔮 Looking Ahead
With just 11 rounds left in the season, Vancouver Whitecaps FC look set for promotion, but the playoff race remains wide open. From Deportivo Garcilaso in 2nd to PFC CSKA Moscow in 9th, every match could shift the standings. Meanwhile, the mid-table and relegation battles promise plenty of drama as teams fight for cup places or to avoid the drop.
