League III 2025 Group C Round 28 Recap

League III Group C – Round 28 Recap

With 10 rounds remaining, Group C has turned into one of the most competitive divisions this season. The promotion race is heating up, the playoff spots are tightly packed, and the relegation fight looks grim for a few struggling clubs.

🏆 Top of the Table

Bayer 04 Leverkusen (GER) stay firmly in first place with 60 points, opening a small cushion at the top after another strong performance. Their consistency and firepower (a +45 goal difference) make them heavy favorites for direct promotion to League II.

Limón F.C. (CTR) continue to impress, sitting second with 51 points, bouncing back after a few mixed results. Their attack remains lethal at home but they’ve shown vulnerability on the road.

Red Star Belgrade (SER) match them on 51 points in third place, only behind by goal difference. Their form has been a bit uneven lately, but they remain in the hunt for the top spot.

🔥 Playoff Zone (2nd–9th)

From Limón F.C. in 2nd down to TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (9th), the playoff race is fierce.

C.D. Barrio México (CTR) (4th, 49 pts) are the surprise package of the season, quietly climbing up with strong home form. FK Vojvodina (SER) and Lech Poznań (POL) occupy 5th and 6th, both consistent sides capable of pushing higher.

Shamrock Rovers F.C. (IRL) (7th, 45 pts) and Arsenal Kyiv (UKR) (8th, 44 pts) are hanging in the playoff zone but need to tighten their defenses. Hoffenheim (9th, 40 pts) still have a mathematical chance, though they’ve dropped crucial points recently.

🤝 Friendly Cup Qualification (10th)

Liga Deportiva Alajuelense (CTR) hold 10th place with 36 points, putting them in the Friendly Cup spot. Their attacking play has improved, and with a few solid results, they could still threaten the playoff line.

👑 King’s Cup Zone (11th–12th)

FC Kramatorsk (UKR) (11th, 35 pts) and Drogheda United F.C. (IRL) (12th, 35 pts) currently occupy the King’s Cup positions. Both teams are level on points, but Drogheda’s poor away record (-11 GD away) is holding them back.

⚔️ Mid-Table and Relegation Battle

KS Cracovia (13th), Eintracht Frankfurt (14th), and Górnik Zabrze (15th) are all struggling to find rhythm, each stuck in the low 30-point range.

The relegation zone is tightening with Bohemian F.C. (16th), Bukovyna Chernivtsi (17th), and FK Partizan (18th) all hovering dangerously close to the drop.

At the bottom, Olympique de Marseille (19th) and Olympique Lyonnais (20th) are in serious danger. Marseille sit on 25 points with a -59 goal difference, while Lyon are far adrift on 7 points and a disastrous -85 GD — the weakest record in the league.

Round 28 Highlights

  • Bayer Leverkusen strengthen their hold on the top with another win.

  • Barrio México continue their fairytale run in 4th.

  • Alajuelense keep the Friendly Cup position alive.

  • Lyon’s relegation seems almost certain after another defeat.
