⚽ League III – Group A Round 25 Recap
Round 25 brought plenty of movement and excitement in Group A of League III as the race for promotion and playoff spots continues to heat up! With 13 rounds remaining, every point counts as teams jostle for position in the top half of the table.
🏆 Promotion Battle
Vancouver Whitecaps FC (CND) continue to dominate the group, sitting firmly at the top with 55 points. Their consistency both home and away keeps them in prime position for automatic promotion to League II.
Chasing closely behind, Deportivo Garcilaso (PER) remain in second with 46 points, looking strong for a playoff berth after a solid run of results. Pirata FC (PER) hold third with 43 points, but recent inconsistency could open the door for Chaco Petrolero (BOL) and Audax Italiano (CHI), both sitting within striking distance.
⚔️ Playoff Contenders (2nd–9th)
The mid-table fight is fierce as Excelsior Rotterdam (NEA), Deportes Iquique (CHI), and Club Deportivo Palestino (CHI) all hover around the low 40s in points. Only a few wins separate 2nd from 9th place, meaning a single round could drastically alter the playoff picture.
Toronto FC (CND), currently 9th with 38 points, cling to the final playoff spot after a tense draw in their last match.
🏅 Cup Qualification Race
Just outside the playoff zone, Dynamo Moscow (RUS) sit 10th with 37 points, which currently places them in line for a Friendly Cup berth. Meanwhile, PFC CSKA Moscow (RUS) and ASC Le Linguère (SEN) occupy 11th and 12th respectively — both in the King’s Cup qualifying zone, keeping their cup hopes alive.
⚠️ Struggles at the Bottom
The lower half tells a tougher story — Casa Sports (SEN), Atlético Ottawa (CND), and AZ Alkmaar (NEA) have yet to find consistency. Further down, Shandong Luneng Taishan (CHN), SC Heerenveen (NEA), and AS Dakar Sacré-Cœur (SEN) continue to battle to avoid slipping deeper into the relegation danger zone.
At the bottom, Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao (CHN) remain winless and rooted to 20th place with a staggering -105 goal differential, marking a historically difficult season for the Chinese side.
With 13 rounds left in the League III campaign, Vancouver Whitecaps FC look set for the title — but the battle for the playoff and cup qualification spots is far from over. Expect plenty of twists in the coming weeks!
