🏆 League III – Group C: Round 23 Recap
Round 23 brought plenty of drama in League III Group C, as the race for promotion and playoff spots heats up. With 38 total rounds in the season, every point is becoming vital for the teams chasing a place in League II or the playoffs.
🔝 Top of the Table
Bayer 04 Leverkusen (GER) continue to dominate the group, holding first place with 55 points after a narrow win that keeps them 4 points clear at the summit. Their consistent form (three wins in their last five) keeps them on course for direct promotion.
Red Star Belgrade (SRB) remain in second with 51 points, maintaining strong momentum with four wins in their last five. They’re looking increasingly secure for at least a playoff berth, if not a late title challenge.
C.D. Barrio México (CRI) sit in third with 49 points, still in striking distance after another solid showing. Their attack remains one of the best in the league, though their defense will need to tighten up to keep pace with the leaders.
⚔️ Playoff Zone (4th–9th)
The middle of the playoff race remains crowded.
-
Limón F.C. (CTR) and FK Vojvodina (SER) are tied on 44 points, both picking up important results this week.
-
Shamrock Rovers (IRL) follow closely with 41 points, while Lech Poznań (POL) and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim (GER) sit just a point or two behind.
-
Liga Deportiva Alajuelense (CTR) round out the playoff zone in 9th with 33 points, despite recent struggles that have seen them lose three of their last five.
With only 8 points separating 4th and 9th, the battle for the playoff spots is wide open.
🏅 Cup Qualifiers
Eintracht Frankfurt (GER) currently sit 10th on 32 points, which places them in position for the Friendly Cup slot. They’ll aim to push back into the playoff zone, but consistency remains their biggest hurdle.
Arsenal Kyiv (UKR) and Drogheda United (IRL), in 11th and 12th respectively, occupy the King’s Cup qualification spots. Both sides need to string together better form, with Drogheda’s defense especially vulnerable after conceding 48 goals this season.
⚠️ Bottom of the Table
The lower end of the table remains tense:
-
Kramatorsk (UKR) and Partizan (SER) hover dangerously close to the drop zone.
-
Cracovia (POL), Bukovyna Chernivtsi (UKR), and Bohemians F.C. (IRL) are all fighting to avoid being cut adrift.
-
French sides Olympique de Marseille and Olympique Lyonnais continue to struggle badly, both losing again and rooted to the bottom with just 7 and 1 point respectively.
With 15 rounds remaining, the race for promotion, playoff spots, and cup qualification is tightening every week. Leverkusen are still the team to beat, but with several clubs in hot pursuit, anything can happen before Round 38.
