Round 27 of the Premier World League Season 2026 delivered plenty of goals and some major results in Group B. With the season stretching to 62 games, teams are approaching the halfway point, and the battles for the playoffs, World Cup of Clubs, cup qualification, and survival are becoming increasingly important.
The top 16 qualify for the playoffs, while the top four earn the ultimate prize of qualification for the World Cup of Clubs.
⚽ Round 27 Results
The round opened with a spectacular contest between Gamba Osaka (1st) and Inter Miami (3rd). The league leaders came away with a 3–2 victory, handing Inter Miami a rare defeat and strengthening Gamba Osaka's grip on first place.
Miami (USA) (8th) also had a positive result elsewhere in the round, defeating Internacional (17th) 3–2. The victory keeps Miami comfortably inside the playoff places, while Internacional remains just outside the top 16 and will be looking to close that gap.

Cerro Porteño (20th) produced one of the more notable results of the round, defeating Atlético Nacional (14th) 2–1.
Atlético Nacional entered the match in the playoff zone, so dropping three points is a setback in the race for the top 16. Cerro, meanwhile, desperately needs victories like this to climb toward the playoff cutoff.
Melgar (6th) also continued its excellent campaign, defeating Caroni (16th) 4–2.
Melgar remains firmly in the playoff positions and is challenging the teams above for a place among the elite. Caroni, sitting right on the playoff line, now has even more pressure to collect points in the coming rounds.

Chicago Fire (15th) picked up a crucial 2–1 victory over Flamengo (10th).
This is an important result for Chicago because they are trying to secure their playoff position. Flamengo, meanwhile, loses valuable ground in the upper portion of the table.
Olimpia (12th) also earned three points, defeating Emelec (12th) 3–2 in a tightly contested match. With the playoff race so congested, victories like this could make a major difference by the end of the season.
🏆 New England Keeps Rolling
One of the strongest performances of Round 27 came from New England Revolution (2nd).
New England defeated Tigres (32nd) 4–1, collecting another three points while remaining right behind league-leading Gamba Osaka.
The result also highlights the massive difference between the two clubs' current situations. New England is fighting for a World Cup of Clubs place, while Tigres sits at the bottom of the table and desperately needs a turnaround.

Yokohama F. Marinos (27th) and Santos Laguna (21st) produced a 3–3 draw.
For Santos, this is a missed opportunity to gain ground toward the Friendly Cup positions. For Yokohama, earning a point is useful as they attempt to climb away from the bottom of the standings.
Puebla (29th) also earned a valuable point after a 2–2 draw with Atlético? — actually, the Round 27 matchup shown is Puebla (26th) vs. [the image's result indicates a 2–2 score against Yokohama?].
The lower half of the table remains extremely tight, with several teams needing a run of victories to change their fortunes.
🌎 More Action Around Group B
Kawasaki Frontale (23rd) suffered a 2–3 defeat to Sociedade (31st). That's a major three-point opportunity for Sociedade and a painful result for Kawasaki, who is trying to move toward the Friendly Cup and King's Cup positions.
Millonarios (24th) defeated Marítimo (25th) 2–2—a result that leaves both sides needing more wins to move away from the lower portion of the table.
Zamalek (22nd) fell 3–4 to Unión Huaral (28th) in a seven-goal thriller. Unión Huaral gets a huge boost from the victory, while Zamalek misses an opportunity to strengthen its position in the Friendly Cup range.
Houston Dynamo (13th) defeated Busan IPark (7th) 1–0, earning a major victory over a higher-ranked opponent. Houston's three points strengthen its playoff position, while Busan loses valuable ground in the upper half.
Finally, Columbus Crew (9th) defeated ACF Fiorentina (18th) 5–1, one of the most dominant results of the round.
That is a statement victory for Columbus, which remains firmly inside the playoff places.
🏆 The Playoff Race
The playoff cutoff is 16th place, and Group B currently has plenty of teams fighting to stay on the right side of that line.
The top of the table is particularly competitive:

- Inter Miami — 3rd
- Boca Juniors — 4th
These four teams currently occupy the coveted World Cup of Clubs positions.

The top four have the biggest prize in sight.
Gamba Osaka's 3–2 victory over Inter Miami was especially significant because it came against another top-four contender.
New England Revolution's 4–1 win also keeps them firmly in the hunt, while Boca Juniors' 3–1 victory maintains their position in fourth.
But with 35 games still remaining, River Plate and Melgar are both within striking distance.
