⚔️ River Plate and Inter Miami Draw

River Plate (6) 2–2 Inter Miami (7)

A major playoff-zone matchup ended 2–2.

River Plate and Inter Miami entered the match in 6th and 7th respectively, so neither side was able to gain ground on the other. Both remain in the top 16, but the single point means the teams around them have an opportunity to make up ground.

Boca Juniors continued its strong campaign with a 2–1 victory over Internacional.

Boca entered the round in 5th, just outside the top-four World Cup of Clubs positions. Internacional, meanwhile, was 19th and fighting for position in the Friendly Cup zone.

One of the biggest surprises of Round 29 came in Japan.

30th-place Kawasaki Frontale defeated 1st-place Santos Laguna 4–1.

Santos entered the match as the Group B leader and in a World Cup of Clubs position. Losing four goals away from home could have major consequences in an increasingly competitive top-four race.

📊 Group B Qualification Picture

After 29 rounds, the competition is divided into several important zones.

🏆 World Cup of Clubs — Positions 1–4

The four teams entering the round in the coveted top-four positions were:

  1. Gamba Osaka
  2. New England Revolution
  3. Melgar
  4. Busan Park FC

The top four qualify for the World Cup of Clubs. However, the results of Round 29 could shake up this group, particularly after New England lost to Flamengo and Santos suffered a heavy defeat to Kawasaki Frontale.

🟦 Playoff Zone — Positions 1–16

The playoff positions stretch all the way down to 16th place.

Among the teams entering the round inside the playoff zone were:

  • Gamba Osaka
  • New England Revolution
  • Melgar
  • Busan Park FC
  • Boca Juniors
  • River Plate
  • Inter Miami
  • Miami FC
  • Columbus Crew
  • Querétaro
  • Flamengo
  • Emelec
  • Chicago Fire
  • Atlético Nacional
  • Caroní

Caroní's 1–1 draw with Emelec is particularly significant because Caroní entered the round in 16th, the final playoff position.

The battle immediately outside the playoff line is also heating up, with teams such as Cerro Porteño and South China looking to break into the top 16.

🟨 Friendly Cup — Positions 17–22

The Friendly Cup zone includes positions 17–22.

Teams such as South China, Cerro Porteño, Internacional, Fiorentina and Union Huaral are involved in this section of the standings.

With only a handful of positions separating the Friendly Cup from the playoff zone, the next several rounds could dramatically alter the picture.

🟥 King's Cup — Positions 23–26

Positions 23–26 qualify for the King's Cup.

Zamalek entered Round 29 in 23rd, while Puebla was 24th and Marítimo 26th. These teams remain within the King's Cup qualification positions but face pressure from teams immediately below them.

🚨 Relegation Zone

The bottom two positions are the relegation spots.

Yokohama F. Marinos entered 27th, Millonarios 28th, Sociedade 29th, Kawasaki Frontale 30th and Olimpia 31st, with several clubs still needing a significant improvement to move toward safety.

Kawasaki's spectacular 4–1 victory over Santos Laguna could provide an important momentum boost despite their low position entering the round.
