Round 31 of the Premier World League Season 2026 produced some spectacular results, including a huge PSV victory, another strong performance from league leaders Cusco FC, and a major win for Atlético Ciclón over Real Madrid.
With 31 of 62 rounds completed, exactly half of the regular season is now finished, leaving 31 rounds remaining. The playoff race is becoming increasingly important, with positions 1–16 qualifying for the playoffs.
🏆 World Cup of Clubs Race – Top 4
The top four places qualify for the World Cup of Clubs, and Round 31 produced some significant results among the leading teams.
Cusco FC stays on top
Cusco FC (1st) continued their excellent season with a dominant 5–1 victory over Werder Bremen (20th). Cusco scored five goals away from home and strengthened their position at the top of the standings.
Atlético Ciclón makes a statement
Atlético Ciclón (3rd) delivered one of the round's biggest results, defeating Real Madrid (9th) 3–1. The victory is especially important because it came against another team currently occupying a playoff position.
Wolfsburg held by Pyramids
Wolfsburg (4th) had to settle for a 3–3 draw with Pyramids FC (11th). Wolfsburg remain inside the World Cup of Clubs places, but dropping two points gives the teams behind them an opportunity to close the gap.
AEK Athens suffers defeat
AEK Athens (2nd) lost 2–1 to Estudiantes (19th). It was a disappointing result for one of the league's top teams and a huge boost for Estudiantes, who are outside the playoff positions.
🔥 The Playoff Race – Positions 1–16
The top 16 qualify for the playoffs, and Round 31 featured several important matches involving playoff contenders.
- Cusco FC (1st) — 5–1 win over Werder Bremen.
- AEK Athens (2nd) — 1–2 loss to Estudiantes.
- Atlético Ciclón (3rd) — 3–1 win over Real Madrid.
- Wolfsburg (4th) — 3–3 draw with Pyramids FC.
- Bayern Munich (5th) — defeated Colo-Colo 3–2.
- DC United (6th) — defeated Aston Villa 3–0.
- Lokomotiv Moscow (7th) — beat Barcelona 3–1.
- Aston Villa (8th) — lost 0–3 to DC United.
- Real Madrid (9th) — lost 1–3 to Atlético Ciclón.
- Pyramids FC (11th) — earned a valuable point against Wolfsburg.
- Barcelona (12th) — suffered a 1–3 home defeat against Lokomotiv Moscow.
- Deportivo Municipal (13th) — defeated Kashima Antlers 3–1.
- SC Freiburg (14th) — beat Western City Wanderers 1–0.
- Silkeborg (15th) — won 3–2 against Binacional.
- Colo-Colo (16th) — lost 2–3 to Bayern Munich.
⚠️ The battle for 16th
Colo-Colo entered Round 31 in the crucial 16th position, the final playoff spot, but their 3–2 defeat against Bayern Munich puts pressure on them.
Silkeborg, sitting 15th, strengthened their own playoff position by beating Binacional 3–2. With teams just outside the top 16 still capable of picking up points, the playoff cutoff could become extremely volatile during the second half of the season.
🟡 Friendly Cup Race – Positions 17–22
Teams finishing 17th through 22nd qualify for the Friendly Cup.
Liverpool (18th) suffered a 2–1 defeat against Comunicaciones (30th), missing a chance to move closer to the playoff places.
Estudiantes (19th) had perhaps the most impressive result among the teams outside the playoff zone, beating second-place AEK Athens 2–1.
Sydney FC (21st) were beaten 2–0 by Spartmani (22nd). That result is particularly useful for Spartmani, who are trying to remain in the Friendly Cup zone.
The Friendly Cup positions remain tightly contested, with several clubs still within striking distance of the top 16.
🔵 King's Cup Race – Positions 23–26
Ranks 23–26 qualify for the King's Cup.
San Martin (23rd) drew 3–3 with Broncos (25th) in one of the round's more entertaining matches. Neither side was able to gain the full three points, leaving both teams in the King's Cup battle.
Kashima Antlers (24th) lost 1–3 to Deportivo Municipal, while Broncos (25th) earned a point from their 3–3 draw.
Meanwhile, Alianza Atletico (27th) defeated Banfield 3–1, a result that could help them climb toward the King's Cup positions.
🚨 Relegation Battle
The bottom two positions are relegation spots, making every point crucial for the teams at the bottom.
Binacional (29th) lost a narrow 2–3 match against Silkeborg, while Chievo (31st) were not involved in the results shown in this round.
The biggest concern is Huracan (32nd), who suffered a devastating 8–2 defeat to PSV. Allowing eight goals at home makes this an extremely damaging result for a team fighting to escape the relegation zone.
