Round 17 of League III Season 2026 delivered one of the most dramatic rounds of the season so far. The biggest story was undoubtedly Toronto FC's spectacular 6–0 demolition of Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao, while the battle at the top saw Dakar Sacré-Cœur defeat league leaders Pirata FC.
With 50 rounds in the season, Group A still has a long way to go, but the promotion race is becoming increasingly intense. The top team earns automatic promotion to League II, while positions 2–9 qualify for the promotion play-offs. 10th goes to the Friendly Cup, and 11th–12th qualify for the King's Cup. There is no relegation.

Result: Atlético Ottawa 3–2 Shandong Luneng Taishan
AZ Alkmaar 1–4 Chaco Petrolero
Chaco Petrolero delivered a major statement by defeating AZ Alkmaar 4–1 away from home.
AZ had become one of the surprise teams of the previous few rounds, collecting victories against several higher-ranked opponents. Chaco, however, brought their giant-killing run to an end in emphatic fashion.
Chaco began the round in 6th place, so the victory keeps them firmly involved in the promotion play-off battle.
Result: AZ Alkmaar 1–4 Chaco Petrolero
Excelsior Rotterdam 3–2 Club Deportivo Palestino
Excelsior Rotterdam edged Palestino 3–2 in another close contest.
Excelsior entered Round 17 in 17th, while Palestino were 14th. The three points are particularly valuable for Excelsior as they attempt to climb toward the middle of the Group A standings.
Result: Excelsior Rotterdam 3–2 Palestino
SC Heerenveen 1–3 Deportes Iquique
Deportes Iquique bounced back with an excellent 3–1 victory over SC Heerenveen.
Iquique began the round in 22nd, so this is a particularly impressive result against Heerenveen, who entered 13th.

Result: Heerenveen 1–3 Iquique
Casa Sports 2–1 Audax Italiano
Casa Sports pulled off a significant 2–1 victory over Audax Italiano.
Audax began the round in 8th, placing them inside the promotion play-off positions. Casa Sports were 19th, so this result represents another important upset.

⭐ AS Dakar Sacré-Cœur 3–2 Pirata FC
The biggest result in the promotion race saw AS Dakar Sacré-Cœur defeat league leaders Pirata FC 3–2.
Pirata entered the round in 1st place, while Dakar were 4th. This was therefore a massive six-point-style battle for the top of the table.

Result: Dakar Sacré-Cœur 3–2 Pirata FC
ASCE La Guelasse 3–2 PFC CSKA Moscow
ASCE La Guelasse defeated CSKA Moscow 3–2 in another five-goal thriller.
La Guelasse entered the match in 24th and CSKA in 2nd, making this one of the biggest upsets of the round.

FC Akron Tolyatti 1–5 Dynamo Moscow
Dynamo Moscow produced another huge upset, crushing Akron Tolyatti 5–1 away from home.

Result: RB Leipzig 3–2 Raja
FC Union Berlin 4–2 Coquimbo Unido
Union Berlin produced one of their best performances of the season, beating Coquimbo Unido 4–2.

Result: Köln 2–2 Cobresal
Viking FK 2–1 Defence Force
Viking FK continued their promotion push with a 2–1 victory over Defence Force.

And don't overlook Toronto FC. Their back-to-back victories of 5–1 and 6–0 have been spectacular. Toronto are rapidly becoming one of the most dangerous teams in Group A.
