Round 31 is complete, and the Premier World League 2026 season has officially reached its halfway point. With 31 of 62 games played, every club now has exactly 31 matches remaining. The playoff line remains at 1st–16th, while the top four occupy the World Cup of Clubs places.
🌍 World Cup of Clubs Zone — Top 4
The battle at the top remains extremely competitive.
Busan Ipark FC (1st) could only manage a 1–1 draw with Miami FC (8th). Busan remains at the summit, but dropping two points gives the teams immediately behind them an opportunity to close the gap.
Gamba Osaka (2nd) responded with a spectacular 4–3 victory over Fiorentina (21st). Gamba's attacking performance produced three points in a high-scoring encounter and kept them firmly in the top four.
New England Revolution (3rd) also picked up three points, defeating Atlético Nacional (15th) 3–2. New England's recent form remains excellent, with four wins in its last five matches.
Melgar (4th) had to settle for a 2–2 draw against Internacional (23rd). It was a valuable point against a team outside the playoff positions, but Melgar missed the chance to gain ground on the teams above them.
Current World Cup of Clubs positions:
- Busan Ipark FC
- Gamba Osaka
- New England Revolution
- Melgar
🏆 Playoff Zone — Ranks 5–16
The playoff race produced several important results.
River Plate (6th) continued its strong run with a 2–1 victory over Columbus Crew (9th). River's recent form is particularly impressive, with four wins and a draw in its last five.
Boca Juniors (5th) and Houston Dynamo (13th) played out a 2–2 draw. Boca remains inside the playoff positions, while Houston collected a point against a team sitting eight places higher.
Inter Miami (7th) suffered a setback, losing 1–2 to Cerro Porteño (16th). This was a particularly significant result because Cerro is sitting directly on the playoff cutoff.
Miami FC (8th) earned a valuable point against first-place Busan with its 1–1 draw.
Chicago Fire (14th) continued its positive momentum by defeating South China (18th) 2–1. Chicago's recent record now includes four wins in its last five matches.
Atlético Nacional (15th) fell to New England, while Cerro Porteño (16th) moved to the playoff line with its victory over Inter Miami.
The playoff zone is therefore becoming increasingly crowded, with several clubs outside the top 16 within striking distance.
🟡 Friendly Cup Race — Ranks 17–22
The area immediately below the playoff line remains extremely competitive.
Union Huaral (22nd) picked up a huge three points by defeating Puebla (20th) 2–1. That result moves Union Huaral closer to the playoff battle while also denying Puebla points.
Caroní (17th) drew 2–2 with Yokohama F. Marinos (29th). Caroní remains just outside the playoffs, meaning every dropped point is important.
Fiorentina (21st) came up short in its seven-goal thriller against Gamba Osaka, losing 4–3.
The Friendly Cup positions currently run from 17th through 22nd, so this section of the table is still within reach of the playoff teams above it.
🏴 King's Cup Zone — Ranks 23–26
The King's Cup battle also saw some important movement.
Santos Laguna (24th) defeated Zamalek SC (28th) 3–2, giving Santos three important points in the lower half of the table.
Sociedade (25th) produced an impressive 3–1 away victory over Marítimo (27th). That result strengthens Sociedade's position inside the King's Cup zone.
Kawasaki Frontale (26th) drew 2–2 with Olimpia, gaining a point but missing the opportunity to climb out of the King's Cup places.
The current King's Cup positions are 23rd–26th, making every point particularly valuable for the teams around that cutoff.
🚨 Relegation Battle
The bottom two positions are the relegation spots.
Millonarios (30th) drew 2–2 with Tigres (32nd), while Marítimo (27th) lost 1–3 to Sociedade. With 31 matches still remaining, there is substantial time for the teams near the bottom to change their positions.
Tigres' point against Millonarios could become particularly valuable as the relegation battle develops.
