Premier World League 2026 — Group B Round 30 Recap

Round 30 is in the books, meaning the Premier World League 2026 season has reached the halfway point: 30 of 62 games completed, with 32 matches still to play. With the top 16 qualifying for the playoffs, the top four earning World Cup of Clubs places, and the lower zones deciding Friendly Cup, King’s Cup, and relegation, every result is becoming increasingly important.

🔥 World Cup of Clubs Zone: Ranks 1–4

The top four visible in this round all picked up important results.

  • Gamba Osaka (1st) defeated Busan Ipark FC 3–0, strengthening its position at the very top. Gamba's recent form is also impressive, with four wins in its last five.
  • Melgar (2nd) continued its excellent campaign by beating South China 1–2 away from home. Melgar's five-match record shows four wins and only one defeat.
  • Busan Ipark FC (3rd) suffered a setback with the 0–3 loss to Gamba. After three straight wins in its recent run, this was a significant result at the top end of the table.
  • New England Revolution (4th) produced one of the biggest away performances of the round, beating Caroní 3–1. New England has now won four of its last five and remains firmly inside the World Cup of Clubs positions.

The top four therefore remain a particularly important group as the league reaches the halfway mark.

🏆 Playoff Race: Ranks 5–16

The teams immediately below the World Cup positions also had plenty to celebrate.

Boca Juniors (5th) earned a valuable point away against Inter Miami (7th) after a 1–1 draw. Boca came into the match with four wins in its previous five, so maintaining that momentum against another playoff-positioned side is significant.

River Plate (6th) was one of the round's standout winners, defeating Houston Dynamo (13th) 3–1 away. River's five-match sequence shows four wins and a draw, making it one of the strongest current runs among the teams shown.

Columbus Crew (9th) also picked up three points, defeating Miami FC (8th) 3–2. Columbus has now won three straight after a difficult start to its five-match sequence.

Flamengo (10th) enjoyed a convincing 4–1 victory over Yokohama F. Marinos, keeping its position inside the playoff zone. Flamengo has won four of its last five.

Emelec (12th) rescued a point with a 2–2 draw against Atlético Nacional (15th). The result keeps both clubs inside the playoff positions, although neither could claim the full three points.

Chicago Fire (14th) delivered a strong away performance, defeating Querétaro 3–2. Chicago has now won three consecutive matches and appears to be building momentum at the right time.

Atlético Nacional (15th) had to settle for the draw with Emelec, while Caroní (16th) suffered a 1–3 home defeat against New England. Caroní remains on the playoff line, but the margin for error is becoming smaller.

⚠️ Just Outside the Playoffs

Cerro Porteño (17th) sits immediately outside the playoff zone after defeating Internacional 3–1. That victory is especially important because 17th place is currently the first Friendly Cup position rather than a playoff place.

Chivas (19th) moved through a difficult match at Olimpia and came away with a 3–2 victory. Chivas' recent form is mixed, but three points keeps the club within striking distance of the playoff positions.

The battle around 16th–19th is therefore becoming one of the key areas to watch over the next several rounds.

🟡 Friendly Cup Territory: Ranks 17–22

The Round 30 results also had consequences for the Friendly Cup race.

Puebla (21st) defeated Zamalek SC 2–1, giving Puebla three valuable points in the middle-lower section of the standings. Zamalek remains down in 27th and therefore outside the Friendly Cup places.

Internacional (20th) lost 1–3 to Cerro Porteño, while South China (18th) was beaten 1–2 by second-place Melgar.

With only a few positions separating the playoff cutoff from the Friendly Cup zone, the next few rounds could dramatically reshape this section.

🏴 King's Cup & Relegation Battle

There were several important results among the lower-ranked clubs.

Union Huaral (23rd) defeated Sociedade (24th) 3–2, an especially valuable victory because both clubs are currently in the King’s Cup range.

Marítimo (26th) lost 1–2 to Fiorentina (22nd), leaving Marítimo in one of the lower positions.

Zamalek SC (27th) suffered a 1–2 defeat to Puebla and remains outside the Friendly Cup positions.

Kawasaki Frontale (25th) lost 2–3 to Tigres, while Millonarios (30th) suffered a 0–1 defeat against Santos Laguna (29th). Those results leave both clubs deep in the lower part of the standings.

⭐ Round 30 Storylines

Gamba Osaka's 3–0 win over Busan was the headline result at the top, while River Plate's 3–1 victory over Houston and New England's 3–1 win at Caroní kept the leading positions highly competitive.

Further down, Chicago Fire's third consecutive victory, Columbus Crew's third straight win, and Puebla's victory over Zamalek could prove important as the playoff and cup races develop.

With 32 rounds still remaining, there is plenty of time for movement—but Round 30 has made the importance of every point increasingly clear.
