League III Group A Round 7 Recap

Here’s a recap of Group A Round 7 in League III play!

Group A – Round 7 Recap

Deportivo Garcilaso (PER) continue to dominate at the top of the table, picking up another win to extend their unbeaten run to seven matches. With 18 points and the league’s best attack (23 goals scored), they’re looking like the team to beat in Group A.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC (CND) remain close behind in 2nd on 17 points, also unbeaten, and keeping pace with Garcilaso thanks to a strong mix of home form and away resilience.

Chaco Petrolero (BOL) sit in 3rd with 15 points, bouncing back from earlier setbacks with four wins in their last five matches. Their recent surge keeps them firmly in contention near the top.

Toronto FC (CND) and Deportes Iquique (CHI) are tied on 12 points, rounding out the top five. Toronto’s attack has been sharp, while Iquique rely on balanced performances at home to stay competitive.

In mid-table, ASCE La Linguère (SEN), Pirata FC (PER), and Excelsior Rotterdam (NEATH) are locked on 12 points as well, with only goal difference separating them. These sides are hovering just outside the top spots and could easily shake things up with a strong run of form.

Dynamo Moscow (RUS) and Audax Italiano (CHI) are hanging around the middle on 11 and 10 points respectively, but they’ll need consistency to climb further up the standings.

At the other end, Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao (CHN) remain winless and stuck at the bottom with 0 points and a brutal -24 goal differential, conceding 29 goals in just seven games. Shandong Luneng Taishan (CHN) also continue to struggle, second from bottom with just 2 points.

Key Takeaways from Round 7:

  • Garcilaso and Vancouver are establishing a clear two-horse race at the top.

  • Chaco Petrolero’s rise keeps pressure on the leaders.

  • A crowded mid-table fight (5th–8th all on 12 points) is shaping up to be one of the most competitive battles in the group.

  • The Chinese clubs remain rooted at the bottom with defensive issues that show no sign of stopping.
