Here’s the recap for Group C Round 36 of the Premier World League:
Group C Round 36 Recap – Premier World League
Group C wrapped up with a dramatic finale as Urawa Reds (JAP) and Bolívar (BOL) both finished level on 79 points, but Urawa claimed the top spot thanks to their superior goal difference (+40). It was a deserved crown for the Japanese giants, who combined a lethal attack with a strong defensive record.
FC Tokyo (JAP) made it a double podium for Japan, finishing third on 75 points, just four behind the leaders. Hamburger SV (GER) and Cerezo Osaka (JAP) rounded out the top five, each closing the season on 72 points, making Group C one of the tightest at the top.
Newcastle United (UK), Newell’s Old Boys (ARG), and Manchester City (UK) secured respectable top-half finishes, each hitting at least 63 points. Meanwhile, Crystal Palace (UK) and Atletico Madrid (SPA) just managed to cling to the top 11.
On the flip side, the bottom of the table was marked by serious struggles. Babuna (MEX) ended with just 18 points, last place with a painful -51 goal difference. Just above them, FC Edmonton (CAN), LA Galaxy (USA), and Zenit Saint Petersburg (RUS) also fell into the relegation zone, unable to recover form late in the season.
Other notable disappointments included Ulsan Hyundai (SK) and Rosario (ARG), both of whom found themselves trapped near the bottom despite flashes of promise earlier in the campaign.
In the mid-table, clubs like Union Española (CHI), Sevilla (SPA), and York United FC (CND) did enough to stay clear of danger but never fully threatened the top six. Austin FC (USA) and Juventus (ITA) battled inconsistencies all year, finishing just inside the safe zone.
Ultimately, Group C will be remembered for Japan’s dominance—three clubs in the top five—and the heartbreak of historic teams like Borussia Dortmund (GER) and America (MEX) who underperformed and found themselves languishing near the bottom.
