League III Group C Round 9 Recap

Here’s the recap for Group C – Round 9 of League III play!

🔹 Group C Round 9 Recap – League III

Bayer 04 Leverkusen (GER) stay firmly on top despite a small wobble, holding 19 points with a powerful +19 goal difference. Their home form has been dominant, winning all five games in Germany.

Shamrock Rovers (IRL) match Leverkusen on points (19) but trail on goal difference (+9). Their recent run of 4 wins and 1 draw makes them the most in-form side of the group right now.

Limón F.C. (CTR) sit 3rd on 16 points, continuing to impress with balanced results both home and away. They’ve won three of their last five.

FK Vojvodina (SER) jump up to 4th (16 pts), showing resilience with 3 wins in their last 5 matches, including a crucial away victory.

Drogheda United (IRL) complete the top 5 with 15 points, but a -3 goal difference shows their defense has been leaky.

In the middle of the table, Olympique de Marseille (FRA) and Red Star Belgrade (SER) are neck-and-neck on 14 points each. Marseille’s strong attack (+4 GD) keeps them ahead of Red Star, who are struggling away from home.

FK Partizan (SER) also sit on 12 points, staying within reach of the European spots.

Meanwhile, Bohemian F.C. (IRL) and Eintracht Frankfurt (GER) share 11 points, sitting mid-table after patchy form.

The lower half of the table is congested:

  • Kramatorsk (UKR), Hoffenheim (GER), and Lech Poznań (POL) are all locked on 11 points, with inconsistent results keeping them from breaking upward.

  • Górnik Zabrze (POL) and KS Cracovia (POL) are both struggling on 10 points, though Zabrze’s -20 goal difference is a major weakness.

  • Arsenal Kyiv (UKR) (9 pts) have endured 4 losses in their last 5 matches, sliding further down.

At the bottom, L.D. Alajuelense (CTR) (6 pts), Bukovyna Chernivtsi (UKR) (6 pts), and Olympique Lyonnais (FRA) (5 pts) are battling to avoid being cut adrift. Lyon’s defense has been disastrous with a staggering -22 goal difference, conceding 36 goals already.

⚽ Key Storylines:

  • Shamrock Rovers are the hottest team right now, unbeaten in their last 5.

  • Leverkusen still top the group, but their away form is shaky (just 6 goals scored, 5 conceded).

  • Lyon’s collapse continues, now winless in five and conceding heavily.

  • The mid-table pack (Bohemians to Lech Poznań) is extremely tight, with just 2 points separating 9th from 13th.
