League III Group A Round 13 Recap

Here’s the full recap of Group A Round 13 of League III play:

⚽ Group A – Round 13 Recap

Excelsior Rotterdam (NEATH) continue to hold the top spot after another strong round. With 28 points, they edge out Vancouver Whitecaps FC by just one point. Excelsior’s balance of scoring (34 goals for) and defense (22 conceded) keeps them steady at the summit.

Vancouver Whitecaps FC (CND) remain close in second with 27 points, tied with Deportivo Garcilaso (PER) but ahead on goal difference. Both sides are still very much in the title race, with Vancouver’s attack (38 goals scored) proving deadly.

Pirata FC (PER) sit in fourth with 24 points, slightly behind the top three but still a threat. Their recent run of form has been mixed, with dropped points making the gap harder to close.

Deportes Iquique (CHI) and Chaco Petrolero (BOL) are locked at 23 points each, rounding out the competitive top six. Both sides have shown consistency, but they’ll need a push if they want to break into the title fight.

Mid-table, Audax Italiano (CHI), Toronto FC (CND), and Dynamo Moscow (RUS) hover between 21–22 points. All three remain within striking distance of the upper half but risk falling behind if they don’t find wins quickly.

Lower down, Casa Sports (SEN) and AZ Alkmaar (NEATH) sit on 16 points, with Atlético Ottawa (CND) just behind. They’ve struggled to turn draws into wins, and their negative goal differences are holding them back.

The bottom half sees a sharp drop-off:

  • PFC CSKA Moscow (RUS) and ASC La Linguère (SEN) are stuck on 15 points, clinging to survival.

  • SC Heerenveen (NEATH) sit just above double digits on 14 points, also battling inconsistency.

  • Club Deportivo Palestino (CHI) (14 pts) and AS Dakar Sacré-Cœur (SEN) (13 pts) continue to languish near the relegation zone.

The bottom four are clearly struggling:

  • FC Akron Tolyatti (RUS) (9 pts), Shandong Luneng Taishan (CHN) (7 pts), and Guangzhou Evergrande Taobao (CHN) (0 pts) are almost cut off entirely, especially Guangzhou, who have lost all 13 matches with a shocking 61 goals conceded.

🔑 Key Storylines:

  • Excelsior Rotterdam lead the group but face heavy pressure from Vancouver and Garcilaso.

  • Tight battle for the top six: only 5 points separate 4th and 9th place.

  • Guangzhou Evergrande’s collapse continues – zero wins, zero draws, and -54 goal difference.

  • Mid-table congestion means a single win streak could push teams like Toronto, Audax, or Dynamo into the top four race.
