League II 2026 Group A Round 8 Recap

League II – Group A

Round 8 Recap (46-Round Season)

Eight rounds into the long 46-round campaign, Group A is already producing a clear early leader, a crowded playoff battle, and growing concern for clubs at the foot of the table.

🥇 Automatic Promotion (1st Place)

AC Milan (ITA) lead Group A after Round 8 and currently occupy the automatic promotion spot to the World Premier League. With six wins from eight matches and the strongest goal difference in the group, Milan have set an impressive early pace, though the season is still very young.

🔥 Playoff Zone (2nd–9th)

The fight for playoff places is intense and extremely competitive:

  • Fortaleza (BRA) and Cartaginés (CTR) remain Milan’s closest challengers and are firmly inside the promotion conversation.

  • Ajax (NEATH) and Vancouver Whitecaps (CAN) are level on points just behind the top three, keeping strong playoff positions.

  • Chankas CYC (PER), Caracas FC (VEN), Olympiacos (GRE), and Pachuca (MEX) currently complete the top nine.

With several teams separated by only a few points, consistency over the next stretch will be decisive.

🎟️ Special Qualification Spots

  • 10th place – Friendly Cup: Tout Puissant Mazembe (COD) sit just outside the playoff zone and would qualify for the Friendly Cup if the season ended now.

  • 11th place – King’s Cup: FC Copenhagen (DEN) currently hold the King’s Cup position but remain well within reach of the playoff places.

⚠️ Relegation Zone

The relegation picture is beginning to form at the bottom:

  • Defence Force (T&T) and Raja (MOR) occupy the final two positions and are currently set for relegation to League III.

  • Teams just above them, including FC Midtjylland (DEN) and Al Ahly SC (EGY), will be looking to create breathing room as the season progresses.

📊 Overall Outlook

With 38 rounds still remaining, Group A remains wide open. AC Milan have made the strongest early statement, but the playoff and relegation battles are tightly packed, ensuring a long and unpredictable road ahead in this demanding 46-round season.
