League II 2026 Group A Round 5 Recap

League 2 – Group A

2026 Season • Round 5 Recap (of 46)

After five rounds, the table is starting to take shape, but with 41 matches still to play, everything remains wide open.

🔝 Promotion Spot

1st – Pachuca (MEX)
Pachuca sit alone at the top after an excellent start, collecting 13 points from 5 matches. With a strong goal difference and consistent form, they currently hold the automatic promotion place to the World Premier League. Early leaders, but they’ll need long-term consistency to stay there.

🎯 Playoff Zone (2nd–9th)

The playoff battle is already intense:

  • 2nd – Ajax (NEATH)

  • 3rd – AC Milan (ITA)

  • 4th – Cartaginés (CRC)

  • 5th – Fortaleza (BRA)

  • 6th – Olympiakos (GRE)

  • 7th – Bahia (BRA)

  • 8th – Tout Puissant Mazembe (COD)

  • 9th – Atlético Indio (HON)

These teams are separated by very small point margins, meaning a single win or loss can dramatically change positions. The playoff race is shaping up to be one of the tightest storylines of the season.

⚠️ Special Qualification Spots

  • 10th – Chankas CYC (PER)
Currently in the Friendly Cup qualification spot, Chankas are just outside the playoffs and still well within reach of climbing higher.

  • 11th – Sol de América (PAR)
Occupying the King’s Cup qualification place, Sol de América will be looking to push upward, as the gap to the playoff zone remains manageable.

🟡 Mid-Table Pressure

From 12th to 21st, clubs like Vancouver Whitecaps, Caracas FC, Botafogo, Fulham, Middlesbrough, and others are tightly packed. One strong run could launch any of them into playoff contention, while poor form could drag them toward danger.

🔻 Relegation Zone

  • 23rd – Raja (MAR)

  • 24th – Al Ahly SC (EGY)

Both clubs find themselves in the relegation places to League III after five rounds. With plenty of matches remaining, there is time to recover, but early defensive struggles and lack of points are already a concern.

📊 Overall Outlook

  • Only 5 of 46 rounds completed

  • Promotion, playoffs, cups, and relegation spots are far from settled

  • Early leaders are emerging, but the mid-table congestion suggests constant movement in the standings

Expect major shifts as the season progresses—Round 5 is just the beginning.
