League 2 – Group D
2026 Season • Round 12 Recap (of 46)
With 12 rounds played and 34 still remaining, Group D is developing into one of the most competitive sections of League 2, with clear separation beginning to form between promotion contenders and relegation battlers.
🔝 Automatic Promotion Spot
Corinthians (BRA) lead Group D with 29 points, taking control of the automatic promotion place to the World Premier League. Their balance of strong home form and steady away results has made them the team to beat so far.
🔥 Playoff Zone (2nd–9th)
The playoff race is crowded and fiercely contested:
-
FC Nantes (FRA) remain firmly in 2nd, keeping close contact with the leaders.
-
Aston Villa (UK) and Guayaquil City (ECU) follow, both within touching distance of the top.
-
El Nacional (ECU), Club Destroyers (BOL), Unión La Calera (CHI), Al Masry SC (EGP), and Real Sociedad (ESP) currently occupy the remaining playoff spots.
With minimal point gaps separating these teams, every round has the potential to reshuffle the playoff picture.
⚠️ Cup Qualification Positions
-
Always Ready (BOL) sit in 10th, currently qualifying for the Friendly Cup.
-
Bolton Wanderers (UK) are 11th, which would place them into the King’s Cup.
Both clubs are still close enough to push into playoff contention with a good run of form.
🚨 Relegation Zone
At the bottom end:
-
AS Mona (FRA) and Canon Yaoundé (CMR) occupy the final two places and would be relegated to League III if the season ended now.
Several teams just above them are also under pressure, keeping the relegation fight wide open.
⏳ Season Structure Reminder
-
1st place → Promotion to World Premier League
-
2nd–9th → Playoffs
-
10th → Friendly Cup
-
11th → King’s Cup
-

Only 12 of 46 rounds are complete, and Group D still has plenty of drama ahead as clubs chase promotion dreams—or fight to survive.
