League II 2026 Group D Round 3 Recap

🏆 League 2 Group D – Round 3 Recap (2026 Season)

With three rounds completed in the 46-round season, League 2 Group D is already delivering drama at both ends of the table, with a clear early leader and a tightly packed chase group.

🔝 Automatic Promotion Spot

El Nacional (ECU) have made a flawless start, winning all three matches to sit top of the group. If this form continues, they would earn direct promotion to the World Premier League, but several contenders are close enough to apply real pressure.

🎯 Playoff Zone (2nd–9th)

The playoff battle is intense, with strong performances across the group:

  • Guayaquil City (ECU)

  • FC Nantes (FRA)

  • Corinthians (BRA)

  • FAR Rabat (MOR)

  • Unión La Calera (CHI)

  • Club Destroyers (BOL)

  • Alto Perú (URU)

  • Real Sociedad (SPA)

These eight clubs occupy the current playoff positions, but the margins remain slim and positions could change quickly.

⚠️ Friendly Cup & King’s Cup Positions

  • SV Meppen (GER) are 10th, which places them in the Friendly Cup qualification spot.

  • Sanfield (ARG) sit 11th, currently heading for the King’s Cup.

Both teams remain within striking distance of the playoff line and will be targeting improvement in the coming rounds.

🔻 Relegation Zone

At the foot of the table:

  • Al Mokawloon (EGP) and Peñarol (URU) occupy the relegation spots and would be sent down to League III if the season ended now.

  • Several clubs just above them are also under pressure, suggesting the relegation battle will be long and intense.

📌 Season Format Reminder

  • 1st place → Promoted to World Premier League

  • 2nd–9th → Playoffs

  • 10th → Friendly Cup

  • 11th → King’s Cup

  • 23rd–24th → Relegated to League III

  • Total rounds: 46

After only three rounds, Group D already looks unpredictable. Early momentum is valuable, but with so many matches still ahead, every point will matter as the season unfolds. ⚽🔥
