League II 2026 Group C Round 7 Recap

League II – Group C

Round 7 Recap (Season: 46 Rounds)

After seven rounds, the League II Group C table is already taking shape, with early contenders emerging for automatic promotion, a tightly packed playoff race, and several clubs beginning to feel pressure near the bottom.

🥇 Promotion Race

Vélez Sarsfield (ARG) sit at the top of the table after Round 7 and currently occupy the only automatic promotion spot to the World Premier League. With strong form and consistency in the opening fixtures, Vélez have set the early benchmark, though with 39 rounds still to play, nothing is decided yet.

🔥 Playoff Zone (2nd–9th)

The battle for the playoff positions is already intense:

  • Limón FC (CTR) and Cruzeiro (BRA) are firmly placed in the top three, keeping close contact with the league leaders.

  • FC Toulouse (FRA) and Bayer 04 Leverkusen (GER) remain solidly in the upper half and are well positioned for the playoffs.

  • Santos (BRA), Everton (UK), CSKA Moscow (RUS), and Braga (POR) round out the current playoff places.

With only a few points separating most of these sides, the playoff race is shaping up to be one of the tightest in the group.

🎟️ Special Qualification Spots

  • 10th place currently belongs to Toluca (MEX), which would qualify them for the Friendly Cup if the season ended now.

  • 11th place is held by AJ Auxerre (FRA), placing them in line for a King’s Cup berth.

Both positions remain highly contested, with teams just below still very much in contention to climb into these slots.

⚠️ Relegation Battle

At the bottom of the table, CF Montreal (USA) and Seattle Sounders (USA) occupy the final two positions and are currently set for relegation to League III. With so much of the season still ahead, both clubs will be desperate to reverse their fortunes quickly to avoid being cut adrift.

📊 Big Picture

With only 7 of 46 rounds completed, Group C is still in its early stages. While Vélez Sarsfield have made a strong opening statement, the playoff battle is extremely compact, and even teams near the bottom have ample time to recover. The next few rounds will be crucial in defining who can maintain momentum and who risks falling behind in this long and demanding season.
