League II – Group D
Round 7 Recap (46-Round Season)
Seven rounds into the long campaign, Group D is shaping up as one of the most competitive sections in League II, with a strong leader, a congested playoff race, and early danger signs for clubs at the bottom.
🥇 Automatic Promotion (1st Place)
Corinthians (BRA) sit top of Group D after Round 7 and currently hold the automatic promotion spot to the World Premier League. With five wins from seven matches and a solid goal difference, Corinthians have set the early pace, though the gap to their closest challengers remains manageable.
🔥 Playoff Zone (2nd–9th)
The fight for the playoff places is already intense:
-
El Nacional (ECU) and FC Nantes (FRA) remain right on the leader’s heels and look like serious promotion contenders.
-
Aston Villa (UK) and Guayaquil City (ECU) are firmly inside the playoff positions after strong starts.
-
Unión La Calera (CHI), Club Destroyers (BOL), Alto Perú (URU), and SV Meppen (GER) currently complete the top nine.
With several teams separated by only a handful of points, one good or bad run could drastically change the playoff picture.
🎟️ Special Qualification Spots
-
10th place – Friendly Cup: Real Sociedad (SPA) sit just outside the playoffs and would qualify for the Friendly Cup if the season ended now.
-
11th place – King’s Cup: Bolton Wanderers (UK) currently occupy the King’s Cup position but remain within striking distance of the playoff pack.
⚠️ Relegation Battle
At the bottom of the table, early warning signs are flashing:
-
Peñarol (URU) and Bella Vista (URU) occupy the final two positions and are currently set for relegation to League III.
-
Teams just above them, including AS Monaco (FRA) and Rio Ave (POR), will also be keen to pull clear as the season progresses.
📊 Overall Outlook
With 39 rounds still to play, nothing is settled yet. Corinthians have made an impressive early statement, but the playoff race is extremely tight, and even clubs near the bottom have plenty of time to recover. Consistency over the next phase of the season will be key in determining who pushes for promotion glory and who gets dragged into a relegation scrap.
