League II 2026 Group A Round 24 Recap

🏆 League 2 – Group A

2026 Season – Round 24 Recap (of 46)

We’ve officially reached the halfway mark of the season, and the promotion race is heating up!

🔝 Title & Promotion Race

1️⃣ Chankas CYC (PER) – 55 pts
Chankas remain firmly on top after 24 rounds. With 17 wins and the league’s most explosive attack (74 goals scored), they currently hold the automatic promotion spot to the World Premier League. However, their recent form shows a small wobble — the chasing pack is still within striking distance.

2️⃣ Vancouver Whitecaps FC (CND) – 54 pts
Just one point behind, Vancouver are keeping the pressure on. With a strong goal difference (+54), they look ready to capitalize on any slip from the leaders.

3️⃣ Fulham (UK) – 48 pts
4️⃣ AC Milan (ITA) – 48 pts
Both sides are level on points and firmly in the playoff zone. Fulham’s consistency and Milan’s strong attack (69 goals) make them serious contenders for a late surge.

🎯 Playoff Zone (2nd–9th)

The battle for playoff qualification is incredibly tight:

  • 5️⃣ Pachuca (MEX) – 48 pts

  • 6️⃣ FC Copenhagen (DK) – 47 pts

  • 7️⃣ Botafogo (BRA) – 46 pts

  • 8️⃣ Fortaleza (BRA) – 40 pts

  • 9️⃣ Caracas FC (VEN) – 39 pts

Only 9 points separate 2nd from 9th, meaning one strong or poor run could completely reshuffle the standings. Fortaleza and Caracas will need consistency to fend off the mid-table challengers.

🏅 Special Qualification Spots

  • 10️⃣ Ajax (NED) – 38 pts
Currently sitting in the Friendly Cup qualification spot. They’re close enough to push into the playoffs but must improve their goal difference.

  • 11️⃣ Cartaginés (CTR) – 36 pts
Occupying the King’s Cup position for now, but Atlético Indio and others are right behind them.

⚖️ Mid-Table Congestion

From 12th down to 16th, the table is packed:

  • Atlético Indio (34 pts)

  • Middlesbrough (32 pts)

  • Sol de América (30 pts)

  • 2 de Mayo (27 pts)

  • Bahia (26 pts)

A good 3–4 match run could push any of these clubs into playoff contention. With 22 rounds remaining, nothing is settled.

🚨 Relegation Battle

The bottom of the table is beginning to look concerning:

  • 23️⃣ FC Midtjylland (DK) – 18 pts

  • 24️⃣ Defence Force (TRI) – 8 pts

These two currently occupy the automatic relegation spots to League III. Defence Force are in serious trouble with just 2 wins from 24 matches and the worst defensive record in the league (69 goals conceded).

Olmedo and Dalian Shide are also dangerously close to the drop zone and cannot afford further slip-ups.

🔥 What to Watch Going Forward

  • Can Chankas maintain their grip on 1st and secure automatic promotion?

  • Will Vancouver overtake them before Round 30?

  • The playoff race (2nd–9th) could become one of the tightest finishes in League 2 history.

  • The relegation fight looks brutal — especially for Midtjylland.

With 22 rounds left, we’re only halfway through this 46-round marathon. Expect twists, surprises, and dramatic swings as we head into the second half of the season.

Stay tuned for Round 25! ⚽🔥
