League 2 – Group B
2026 Season – Round 21 Recap (of 46)
At the halfway mark of the season, the promotion race is heating up and the table is starting to stretch at both ends.
🔝 Promotion Race
Leading the way after 21 rounds is Vasco Da Gama with 45 points. Their consistency (14 wins) and strong attack (62 goals scored) have them narrowly ahead in what is shaping up to be a fierce battle for the automatic promotion spot to the World Premier League.
Hot on their heels is FC Schalke 04 with 44 points, just one point behind. Schalke remain firmly in contention and look like serious challengers for the top spot.
Close behind in third sits Inter on 43 points. With only two points separating the top three, the promotion race is wide open.
Rounding out the current playoff positions (2nd–9th) are:
-
Hannover 96 – 40 pts
-
ACF Fiorentina – 40 pts
-
Atalanta BC – 39 pts
-
Atletico Mineiro – 33 pts
-
Arminia Bielefeld – 32 pts
-
Cagliari Calcio – 29 pts
With 25 rounds still to play, even the mid-playoff teams cannot afford a dip in form.
🏆 Mid-Table Stakes
-
10th place: Desna Chernihiv (28 pts) — currently qualifying for the Friendly Cup.
-
11th place: Busan IPark (28 pts) — holding the King’s Cup spot.
Just a few points separate 7th through 12th, meaning one strong run could completely reshuffle the playoff picture.
⚠️ Relegation Battle
The bottom of the table is beginning to look concerning:
-
23rd: AS Monaco – 16 pts
-
24th: Africa Sports FC – 12 pts
Both are currently in the relegation zone and would drop to League III if the season ended today. With 25 matches remaining, survival is still possible—but they need results quickly.
📊 Round 21 Overview
-
Only 2 points separate the top three.
-
The playoff line (9th) is already competitive and tightening.
-
Relegation danger is becoming real for the bottom two.
-
Goal differences could play a major role later in the season.
With the season not even halfway complete (21 of 46 rounds), the pressure is rising across the table. The next few rounds could define whether we see a tight three-way promotion race—or a clear frontrunner begin to pull away.
