League II 2026 Group D Round 18 Recap

🏆 League 2 – Group D

2026 Season – Round 18 Recap (46 Rounds Total)

We’ve reached the 18-match mark in this 46-round marathon, and Group D is shaping up to be one of the most competitive divisions in League 2.

🔝 Automatic Promotion Spot

1️⃣ Corinthians (BRA) – 38 pts

Corinthians sit top of the table and currently hold the automatic promotion place to the World Premier League. With 12 wins and a strong +13 goal difference, they’ve been consistent both home and away.

However, the lead is razor thin…

  • 2️⃣ Aston Villa (UK) – 36 pts

  • 3️⃣ Peñarol (URU) – 35 pts

  • 4️⃣ Club Destroyers (BOL) – 35 pts

  • 5️⃣ FC Nantes (FRA) – 33 pts

Just five points separate 1st from 5th — one slip could completely change the promotion picture.

🎯 Playoff Zone (2nd–9th)

As it stands, these teams are in playoff positions:

  1. Aston Villa – 36 pts

  2. Peñarol – 35 pts

  3. Club Destroyers – 35 pts

  4. FC Nantes – 33 pts

  5. Always Ready – 32 pts

  6. Banfield – 31 pts

  7. Al Masry – 31 pts

  8. Real Sociedad – 30 pts

The midfield pack is extremely tight. A two-game winning streak could launch a team into the top three — or drop them out of the playoffs entirely.

🏆 Special Qualification Spots

  • 10th – El Nacional (26 pts)Friendly Cup qualification

  • 11th – Unión La Calera (25 pts)King’s Cup qualification

Both clubs remain within touching distance of the playoff zone and will believe a strong run can push them upward.

⚠️ Relegation Battle

Currently in the relegation spots to League III:

  • 23rd – K.R.C. Genk – 12 pts

  • 24th – Canon Yaoundé – 9 pts

Canon Yaoundé are struggling badly defensively and already 10+ points from safety. Genk also face an uphill climb with just 12 points from 18 matches.

Just above the drop zone:

  • Bella Vista – 14 pts

  • Rio Ave – 15 pts

  • AS Mona – 16 pts

The bottom six are in serious danger — and survival will require immediate improvement.

📊 Mid-Table Watch

Teams like SV Meppen (25 pts), Bolton Wanderers (24 pts), Atlético Osasuna (22 pts), and Far Rabat (21 pts) are stuck in limbo — too far from playoffs, but not safe from the relegation fight. With 28 rounds still to play, momentum will be everything.

🔥 Round 18 Snapshot

  • Corinthians lead, but promotion is far from secured.

  • The playoff race is incredibly congested from 2nd to 9th.

  • El Nacional and Unión La Calera sit in special qualification positions but can still climb.

  • The relegation zone is tightening, and Canon Yaoundé are in serious trouble.

  • 28 matches remain — the season is just getting started.

Group D promises drama all the way to Round 46.
