League II 2026 Group D Round 19 Recap

League 2 – Group D | 2026 Season | Round 19 Recap

Nineteen rounds into this 46-game season, the fight for promotion is heating up, the playoff race is crowded, and the relegation zone is beginning to separate. Here’s the situation after Round 19.

🔝 Promotion Race

Aston Villa sit top of the table with 39 points, currently holding the automatic promotion spot to the World Premier League. Their strong attacking record has helped them edge ahead in a very tight race.

Just behind them:

  • Peñarol – 38 pts

  • Club Destroyers – 38 pts

  • Corinthians – 38 pts

  • FC Nantes – 36 pts

  • Always Ready – 33 pts

  • Banfield – 32 pts

  • Al Masry – 31 pts

  • Real Sociedad – 30 pts

The gap between 2nd and 4th is razor-thin, and even teams slightly lower still have plenty of time to push for promotion through the playoffs.

🎯 Qualification Positions

  • 10th – Unión La Calera (28 pts) currently qualifies for the Friendly Cup.

  • 11th – El Nacional (27 pts) hold the King’s Cup spot.

Mid-table remains tight, meaning these positions could change quickly in the coming rounds.

⚠️ Relegation Battle

At the bottom of the standings:

  • 23rd – K.R.C. Genk (12 pts)

  • 24th – Orlando Pirates (11 pts)

Both teams are currently set for relegation to League III. With 27 rounds still to play, there is time to recover, but both sides must improve soon to avoid falling further behind.

📊 Season Outlook

With more than half the season remaining, the race for automatic promotion, the crowded playoff zone, and the intense relegation fight are all far from decided. Consistency over the long run will be key as teams prepare for Round 20 and the next phase of this demanding campaign.
