League II – Group D
Round 8 Recap (46-Round Season)
With eight rounds completed, Group D is beginning to separate into clear tiers, though the long 46-round campaign ensures that nothing is close to settled yet.
🥇 Automatic Promotion (1st Place)
El Nacional (ECU) sit top of Group D after Round 8 and currently occupy the automatic promotion place to the World Premier League. With six wins from eight matches and one of the strongest attacks in the group, El Nacional have set the early pace, but pressure from below remains intense.
🔥 Playoff Zone (2nd–9th)
The playoff race is tightly packed and highly competitive:
-
FC Nantes (FRA) continue their strong form and remain firmly in second place.
-
Corinthians (BRA) stay close to the top after another consistent round of results.
-
Unión La Calera (CHI) and Aston Villa (UK) are level on points and well positioned in the upper half.
-
Guayaquil City (ECU) and Club Destroyers (BOL) remain inside the playoff places.
-
Real Sociedad (SPA) and SV Meppen (GER) currently complete the top nine.
Only a handful of points separate several of these sides, making every match increasingly important.
🎟️ Special Qualification Spots
-
10th place – Friendly Cup: Alto Perú (URU) sit just outside the playoff zone and would qualify for the Friendly Cup if the season ended now.
-
11th place – King’s Cup: Bolton Wanderers (UK) currently occupy the King’s Cup position and remain within striking distance of the playoff spots.
⚠️ Relegation Zone
The relegation picture is becoming clearer at the bottom:
-
Canon Yaoundé (CMR) and Peñarol (URU) occupy the final two positions and are currently set for relegation to League III.
-
Clubs just above them, including Bella Vista (URU) and FSV Mainz 05 (GER), will be desperate to pull clear in the coming rounds.
📊 Overall Outlook
With 38 rounds still remaining, Group D remains highly competitive. El Nacional have made the strongest early impression, but the playoff race is congested, and the relegation battle is already fierce. Sustained consistency over the next phase of the season will be crucial for clubs at both ends of the table.
