League 2 – Group A | 2026 Season | Round 28 Recap
After 28 rounds of the 46-game season, the promotion race and playoff battle in League 2 Group A are heating up, with several clubs tightly packed near the top of the table.
🔝 Title & Promotion Race
Chankas CYC remain in 1st place with 62 points, holding the only automatic promotion spot to the World Premier League. Their strong attack (85 goals scored) continues to power them forward, but the margin at the top is extremely slim.
Just one point behind, Vancouver Whitecaps FC sit in 2nd with 61 points, keeping the pressure firmly on the leaders.
Right behind them is AC Milan in 3rd with 60 points, maintaining excellent form and staying firmly in the title hunt. With only two points separating the top three, the race for automatic promotion remains wide open.
Pachuca (57 pts) and FC Copenhagen (56 pts) round out the top five, both comfortably positioned inside the playoff zone and still within striking distance of the summit if the leaders slip.
🟦 Playoff Zone (2nd–9th)
The playoff race remains extremely competitive:
-
6th – Fulham (52 pts)
-
7th – Caracas FC (49 pts)
-
8th – Botafogo (47 pts)
-
9th – Atlético Indio (46 pts) ⬆️
Atlético Indio climbed into the final playoff position this round, strengthening their push for a postseason opportunity.
⚔️ Battle Around the Cut Line
Just outside the playoff zone:
-
10th – Fortaleza (45 pts) → currently in the Friendly Cup qualification spot
-
11th – Ajax (45 pts) → holding the King’s Cup position
Both teams remain only one point away from the playoffs, meaning the fight for the top nine could shift dramatically over the next few rounds.
📉 Mid-Table Movement
A few teams experienced positional changes this round:
-
Olmedo climbed to 20th ⬆️
-
Bahia slipped to 17th ⬇️
-
Dalian Shide dropped to 22nd ⬇️
While not yet in relegation positions, these teams must improve quickly to avoid being dragged into the danger zone.
🔻 Relegation Zone
The bottom of the table remains concerning for two clubs:
-
23rd – Raja (19 pts)
-
24th – Defence Force (10 pts)
Both teams currently occupy the automatic relegation spots to League III. With the season just past its halfway mark, survival is still possible—but time is running short.
