League II 2026 Group A Round 26 Recap

League 2 – Group A

2026 Season – Round 26 Recap (of 46)

With 26 rounds completed, the promotion race is heating up while the battle for playoff positioning and survival intensifies. We’re officially past the halfway mark, and every point is becoming crucial.

🔝 Title Race – One Automatic Promotion Spot

1️⃣ Vancouver Whitecaps FC (CND) – 60 pts
Vancouver remain firmly in control at the top. With 18 wins and a +30 goal difference, they’ve built a strong cushion and are showing consistency at both ends of the pitch. If they maintain this pace, promotion to the World Premier League is within reach.

2️⃣ Chankas CYC (PER) – 59 pts
Just one point behind, Chankas are keeping the pressure on. Their +59 goal difference is the best in the league, proving their attacking dominance. This promotion race is far from over.

3️⃣ AC Milan (ITA) – 54 pts
AC Milan are quietly staying in contention. If either of the top two slip, Milan are positioned to capitalize.

🎯 Playoff Zone (2nd–9th)

Currently holding playoff spots:

  1. Chankas CYC – 59

  2. AC Milan – 54

  3. Pachuca – 51

  4. FC Copenhagen – 50

  5. Fulham – 48

  6. Botafogo – 47

  7. Caracas FC – 45

  8. Fortaleza – 44

The margin between 4th and 9th is razor thin. A single win or loss could shift multiple positions. Fortaleza cling to the final playoff place with 44 points, but Ajax (41 pts) are closing in.

🏆 Special Qualification Spots

10️⃣ Ajax – 41 pts
Currently in position for the Friendly Cup. However, just a small dip in form could see them drop out of the top 10.

11️⃣ Atlético Indio – 40 pts
Holding the King’s Cup qualification spot. They’ll need consistency to avoid slipping into mid-table irrelevance.

⚖️ Mid-Table Traffic

Positions 12th through 18th remain tightly packed, with several teams still mathematically capable of pushing for 9th place if they string together strong runs. Middlesbrough (34 pts) and Sol de América (33 pts) need momentum soon if they want to re-enter the playoff conversation.

⬇️ Relegation Battle

22️⃣ Dalian Shide – 19 pts
23️⃣ Raja – 18 pts

These two currently occupy the relegation spots and would drop to League III if the season ended today. With 20 rounds remaining, survival is still possible — but urgency is required immediately.

Olmedo (21 pts) and Bahia (27 pts) are also looking nervously over their shoulders.

📊 By The Numbers

  • 46 total rounds – 20 matches remaining

  • 60 points likely not enough yet for automatic promotion

  • Around 70–75 points could secure the top spot

  • Playoff cut line currently sits at 44 points

🔥 What to Watch Next

  • Can Vancouver maintain their narrow lead?

  • Will Chankas’ attack power them to first?

  • Who wins the playoff scramble between places 4–9?

  • Which relegation-threatened side finds late-season form?

The second half of the season promises drama at every level of the table. Round 27 can’t come soon enough.
