League II 2026 Group B Round 29 Recap

League 2 – Group B (2026 Season)

Round 29 Recap

Round 29 in League 2 Group B delivered more movement near the top of the standings while the fight for playoff positions and survival continues to intensify in this long 46-round season.

🔝 Promotion Race

At the top of the table, FC Schalke 04 (GER) hold 1st place with 56 points, keeping control of the automatic promotion spot to the World Premier League. Schalke’s strong attacking output (87 goals scored) continues to be one of the most dangerous offenses in the league.

Just behind them is Vasco Da Gama (BRA) with 56 points as well, level on points but trailing on tiebreakers. Their consistency keeps them firmly in the promotion race.

Hannover 96 (GER) sit in 3rd with 55 points, only one point behind the leaders, while ACF Fiorentina (ITA) also remain on 55 points, keeping the battle for the top spot extremely tight.

Inter (ITA) rounds out the top five with 51 points, still well within reach of the promotion race if the leaders slip.

⚔️ Playoff Positions (2nd–9th)

The playoff zone is packed with strong clubs and very little separation:

  • Vasco Da Gama (BRA) – 56 pts

  • Hannover 96 (GER) – 55 pts

  • ACF Fiorentina (ITA) – 55 pts

  • Inter (ITA) – 51 pts

  • Atlético Mineiro (BRA) – 51 pts

  • Cagliari Calcio (ITA) – 49 pts

  • Atalanta BC (ITA) – 48 pts

  • Arminia (GER) – 47 pts

With only a few points separating many of these teams, the playoff picture could change dramatically in the coming rounds.

🏆 Mid-Table Stakes

Busan Ipark FC (KOR) currently sit in 10th place with 42 points, earning the Friendly Cup qualification spot for now.

Right behind them is Blackburn (UK) in 11th place with 41 points, which currently secures a place in the King’s Cup.

However, clubs like FC Ka (BRA) and Desna (UKR) are very close behind, meaning the fight for these spots remains wide open.

📉 Relegation Battle

At the bottom of the table, two teams currently occupy the relegation spots to League III:

  • Africa Sports FC (CIV) – 16 pts (24th)

  • Monaco FC (FRA) – 24 pts (23rd)

Both teams have struggled heavily this season and will need a major turnaround to avoid relegation.

Just above the drop zone, Philadelphia Ukrainian (USA) and Lille OSC (FRA) are also in danger and cannot afford many more poor results.

📊 Key Takeaways After Round 29

  • FC Schalke 04 narrowly hold the automatic promotion spot.

  • The top four teams are separated by just one point, making this one of the tightest promotion races across League 2.

  • The playoff battle from 5th to 9th remains extremely competitive.

  • The relegation fight is beginning to take shape, with a few teams starting to fall behind.

With 17 rounds still remaining, the promotion race and survival battle in Group B are far from decided, setting up a dramatic second half of the season. ⚽📊
