League II 2026 Group B Round 38 Recap

League 2 – Group B (2026 Season)

Round 38 Recap

With 38 of 46 rounds completed, the standings in League 2 Group B are becoming clearer, but several important battles remain — especially the fight for the automatic promotion spot and the crowded playoff race.

🥇 Promotion Race

At the top of the table, FC Schalke 04 lead the standings with 71 points. They currently hold the automatic promotion spot to the World Premier League, but their recent inconsistent form means the door is still open for challengers.

Just behind them are two teams level on points:

  • ACF Fiorentina – 71 pts
  • Hannover 96 – 71 pts

With the top three tied on points, goal difference and head-to-head results are making the difference for now. The promotion race in Group B is shaping up to be one of the closest battles in the league.

⚔️ Playoff Zone (2nd–9th)

The playoff positions are currently held by:

  1. ACF Fiorentina – 71 pts
  2. Hannover 96 – 71 pts
  3. Vasco da Gama – 68 pts
  4. Arminia – 63 pts
  5. Atlético Mineiro – 61 pts
  6. Inter – 60 pts
  7. Atalanta BC – 60 pts
  8. Cagliari Calcio – 59 pts

Several teams remain tightly packed in the middle of the playoff race. Just one or two wins could dramatically change the playoff seeding, particularly between 6th and 9th place, where the margins are extremely small.

🏆 Cup Qualification Spots

Just outside the playoff zone:

  • 10th – Blackburn Rovers (59 pts)Friendly Cup qualification
  • 11th – FC KA (57 pts)King’s Cup qualification

Blackburn are only narrowly outside the playoff positions and could easily break into the top nine with a strong run over the remaining rounds.

⚠️ Mid-Table Pressure

Clubs like Busan Ipark, Real Betis, Charlton, and Santa Clara sit in the middle of the table. While they are relatively safe from relegation for now, they remain too far from the playoff line unless they produce a late surge.

🔻 Relegation Battle

The fight to avoid relegation to League III is becoming intense at the bottom.

Currently in the relegation zone:

  1. Monaco FC – 32 pts
  2. Africa Sports FC – 27 pts

Africa Sports FC are in the most danger with the league’s worst defensive record. Meanwhile, Monaco FC still have a realistic chance to escape if they can close the gap with Spartak or Stade Brestois, who sit only a few points above them.

📊 Key Storylines After Round 38

  • Three-way tie for 1st place between Schalke, Fiorentina, and Hannover.
  • Playoff race extremely tight between 6th and 10th place.
  • Blackburn just outside the playoff line, only separated by small margins.
  • Relegation fight still alive, with Monaco trying to climb out of danger.

Season Outlook:
With 8 rounds remaining, the promotion race could go down to the final matchday. Group B remains one of the most competitive divisions, where a single winning streak could change everything from promotion to relegation.
