The Group C table remains fiercely competitive at both ends after a dramatic Round 27, with the Japanese clubs leading the way and several heavyweights slipping in form.
Urawa Reds (JAP) stay top with 65 points, grinding out results despite mixed form in their last five. Close behind, FC Tokyo (JAP) are just a single point back on 64, keeping the title race alive with a strong run of victories. Bolívar (BOL) (64 pts) also remain firmly in the chase, unbeaten in recent matches and matching the Japanese duo stride for stride.
Cerezo Osaka (JAP) (55 pts) sit fourth after a steady run, while Newell’s Old Boys (ARG) (53 pts) are back in contention after stringing together key wins. Newcastle United (UK) (51 pts) and Hamburger SV (GER) (51 pts) both continue to push for continental football, with Manchester City (UK) (47 pts) just behind them despite dropping points lately.
Midtable sees Vegalta Sendai (JAP) (47 pts) and Crystal Palace (UK) (46 pts) holding steady, while Atlético Madrid (SPA) (45 pts) can’t seem to find consistency. Sevilla (SPA) (44 pts) and Unión Española (CHI) (42 pts) round out the upper mid-pack.
