League 2 – Group B | 2026 Season – Round 39 Recap
With only 7 matches left in the season, Group B is shaping up to be one of the most competitive divisions across the league. From the promotion race to the relegation battle, everything is still wide open.
🔝 Race for Automatic Promotion
At the top, ACF Fiorentina leads the table with 74 points, holding a narrow advantage in the fight for automatic promotion to the World Premier League. However, their recent inconsistency (mixed results in the last five) leaves the door open.
FC Schalke 04 sits just behind with 71 points, applying serious pressure after a strong run of form. Hannover 96 (71 pts) is level on points, making it a three-way battle for the top spot.
Just a bit further back, Vasco da Gama (68 pts) and Atlético Mineiro (64 pts) are still within reach, but they’ll need a big push in the final rounds.
⚔️ Playoff Zone (2nd–9th)
The playoff spots are extremely tight, with multiple teams fighting for position:
- Arminia (63 pts) and Inter Milan (60 pts) remain solid contenders.
- Cagliari Calcio (60 pts) and Atalanta BC (60 pts) are level, showing how close the race is.
- FC København (60 pts) currently sits in 10th range but is still right on the playoff edge depending on tiebreakers.
Every point matters here, and even a single loss could knock a team out of the playoff bracket.
🎯 Mid-Table Stakes
- Busan IPark (59 pts) is right in the mix and could still break into the playoffs.
- Blackburn Rovers (59 pts) also remains in contention.
However:
- Real Betis (56 pts) and Charlton Athletic (52 pts) are slipping away from playoff hopes and may need a miracle run.
- Currently, 10th place (FC København) secures a Friendly Cup spot, while
- 11th place (Busan IPark) lands in the King’s Cup position—both still subject to change.
⚠️ Lower Mid-Table & Danger Zone
Teams like Santa Clara, Deportivo FAS, and Desna are in a relatively safe but unremarkable zone. However, slipping further could drag them into trouble.
🚨 Relegation Battle
The bottom of the table is where things look dire:
- Monaco FC (35 pts) is in 23rd and struggling to keep pace.
- Africa Sports FC (28 pts) sits dead last and is on the brink of relegation.
Both teams are currently set for relegation to League III, and time is running out fast.
Just above them:
- Spartak (41 pts) and Stade Brestois 29 (42 pts) are not safe yet and must continue picking up points.
🔥 Final Thoughts
- The title race is incredibly tight between Fiorentina, Schalke, and Hannover.
- The playoff race (2nd–9th) is packed, with multiple teams tied or within a few points.
- Mid-table teams still have motivation with cup qualification spots up for grabs.
- The relegation fight is heating up, especially for Monaco and Africa Sports.
With only 7 rounds remaining, expect major shake-ups—this group is far from decided.
